He was full of crap and trying to con me into believing retailers received a different version than those pre ordering through Google Play. LOL

Lady Carol, it is not the cable but the wall plug that makes the difference. The USB cable direct from say your PC will output 5v but only .5amp the Nexus like the Fire require 1.8 to 2amps for fast charging and being able to keep up if using the device.

Of course Amazon wants to sell the Nexius. They sell the iPad! They don't sell Fires because they want to be a hardware manufacturer. lol They don't care how they make money and they don't care whose device they sell their content and goods on. They probably figure that if you are an Amazon user, you are likely to buy some things from Amazon (content and goods) on any tablet they sell. Customer service alone will will often ensure that.

Lady Carol,

Good Morning from Down Under.

Yes that Toshiba Excite 7.7 does seem to be a great little unit indeed.

Loved Aaron's conclusion summary...

>>>>Those who can afford the Excite 7.7 will find it to be an amazing product. Those who can't afford it? The alternatives offer 98% of the experience for 50% of the price - you're not really in a bad position, either<<<<

Pity it isn't running Jelly bean but that isn't a big deal overall. I loved the 7.7" screen plus...
Dimensions/Weight: 8.1" x 5.3" x 0.3"; 13.4oz

Making this a seriously good little device. Pity the Nexus has stolen its thunder!

Shame about the price also!

Some people here have been charged and received shipping notices but not me.

There seems no rhyme or reasons for shipping priority as those that ordered a week after me have shipping confirmation. I ordered around 9am 28th June. Go figure????

Hope you enjoy the new one but I am still exited to getting the Nexus 7 when it finally arrives. Jelly Bean and the price make it the one in my book.

Although the Excite 7.7 is great and so would the price be out here. Add about a $100 at least to it.

Lady Carol, I asked on a US forum if somebody with a N7 in their hands if they could answer what length and is it a standard Micro B USB cable it comes shipped with.

Their answer...

It's a 3-foot cable. (Nowhere near long enough, IMO.) And yes, it's a standard USB-microUSB connection. 5V, 2 amp output.

Edit:It looks like the DV troll is back.

Lady Carol, still no word on shipping our 16GB N7s but plenty getting it for the 8GB models. Although some reports now coming through of the 8GBs being put back a day now but at least they have some form of confirmation. Hopefully ours comes (shipping confirmation) tomorrow!

Thank God Amazon are efficient with their deliveries.
