Rogue says:
Taylor: On your Fire tap the gear, then more, then scroll down to device and tap on it. The version number should match the one Joanne just gave you. 6.3.1.

Rogue says:
That would be absolutely correct Joanne and where can Taylor find that on his Fire Joanne?

Taylor. K- It comes through your Kindle Fire automatically when you are WiFi connected. Glenn, please advise which version it should say. I believe it is currently 6.3.1. Joanne

P.S. Tap on the gear icon (top right corner), tap More, scroll down to Device- tap on that and it displays your update version. It is currently 6.3.1.

You're going to have to have a better answer than that.

Dear Q:

I am replying to your post about owners complaining about their kindles.

Sometimes I am suspicious that the posters do not even own a Kindle. But I have a new theory now.

I was purchasing a new mattress in Beds Etc the other day. The salesperson said she had bought a daughter a kindle (she did not remember which one), and her daughter kept doing things to the kindle that broke it. But the salesperson said she was really glad that she had bought the kindle at amazon because amazon had simply replaced the kindle.

I wonder with customers like this if Amazon can stay in business.

Q: Quite obviously I'm on someones list as it happens everyday usually within minutes of my post. Did you read my post in the "Kindle Fire Not Charging, Frozen" discussion. Very strange what happened and more strange why I couldn't correct it. Give it a read and I would appreciate your input. Glenn

Hi Glenn,
Weird. Now why would someone down-vote your post here? For helping someone?

Rogue says:
Diana: While I can appreciate your frustrations, you are talking to owner/users in this discussion, not Amazon. On the top or bottom of this page you can click "Help" and then the large yellow button on the right side of the page. This will put you in contact with Amazon. Thanks Glenn

Michael, no, Kindle for PC can not be installed on a Kindle Fire. It's designed to work with the Windows operating system, and the operating system for the Kindle Fire is Android based.

I think people are just suggesting that as an organizational tool...it wouldn't appear on the Fire. You could use Splashtop to look at it through the Fire (it would be connecting to your PC), but you wouldn't be able to open the file on your Fire through Splashtop.

Bufo Calvin says:
Phyllis, it sounds like Glenn solved your problem. :)

To answer the question, and in case others want to know: if you are on a Windows PC you can generally right-click on a file and choose properties. That will tell you the file type.

Bufo Calvin says:
Claire, it's not...currently, the Kindle Fire is only available for sale to the USA.

I saw this suggestion above, in response to the missing "Collections" option, but not sure I quite understand. I have "Kindle for PC" on my laptop but can this app be installed on the Fire?
