I took my Kindle Fire to the rocky shores of Maine this past summer and read for hours. The trick is to turn your brightness as bright as it will go and then shade the screen (I used a hat) and it works great! I love my Kindle Fire.

can kindle fire be used for sending and receiving email?

Brenda says:
Yes, if you have a router at home or in libraries, restaurants, etc.

juju says:
why do you need the router.....sorry I do not understand the router deal.....

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 27, 2012 1:12:16 PM PST
Because the Fire runs off wi-fi (unless you buy the brand new one with 4G, but that one limits how much you can do over the internet) and a router gives you wi-fi.

if this has been asked i apologize, but that's a lot of questions to go through..... i'm new to the whole reader experience. do you have to turn the fire on to charge the battery or just plug it up?

Just got the Kindle Fire and successfully downloaded a few books directly to the device. However, I've managed to download a book to my laptop and then uploaded it to both my cloud storage and onto the Fire but cannot see it on either.

Where am I going wrong?

Thanks in advance and Merry Xmas one and all !

Just plug it in. It will turn itself on

Will my 110v charger from my kindle touch work on a kindle fire?

Posted on Dec 25, 2012 7:32:09 AM PST
I have a disk with over 600 books on it. can it be downloaded on my kindle or does one need to get everything from the kindle library?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 25, 2012 7:36:35 AM PST
jsh1120 says:
Yes, but it may charge slowly. And if you use the KF while charging, it may drain the battery faster than the charger can supply additional power.

Will there ever be a chance that Kindle fire 2 will opeate with Adobe Flash Player ? Possibly a new download ? I am missing a lot of good videos from my favorite web sites.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 25, 2012 7:58:17 AM PST
jsh1120 says:
Barbi,

No mobile device sold after August 2012 supports the Adobe Flash Player. It can no longer be licensed from Adobe. Many websites have a "mobile" version of their webpages that do not use Flash. For example, if you point your browser at "m.youtube.com" rather than "youtube.com" videos will display just fine.

You can also download a dedicated app to do the same thing. TubeMate is available in the Amazon Appstore for YouTube, for example.

Otherwise you must "sideload" a version of a browser and Flash player that is no longer supported. The most common is the Dolphin Browser HD (version 8.5.1) and an accompanying Flash Player. Instructions for side loading this browser can be found in many, many, many threads on this forum Takes about 10 minutes.

I just got a Kindle Fire for Christmas and it seems to be somewhat of an updated version from the one sold earlier in the year (but it's not the kindle fire HD) and when i want to buy a book, its almost impossible to click on books in the store. Is there a certain way that i have to click on the book or is there something wrong?

When I first started using my new Kindle Fire HD8 I was able to access my AOL mail and als play the Words with Friends game. The last couple of days that has not been possible. It is telling me I have too many tabs open. I do not understand this. I always close the web service and shut it down prooperly when laying it aside.- I just don't understand why there would be tabs open? Can someone solve this for me?

I actually have another question. Yesterday, when using my Kindle Fire, it just froze. I recharged it but it is still just frozen. I tried tapping it, turning it off and on again, and nothing works. Can you help me?

Brenda says:
Did you try holding the on/off button in for 30 seconds? Usually, that fixes it. Hope it helps.

No I did not - will try that. Thanks

Please let me know if it works. You might have to hold it down for a minute. It resets when you do that. Hope it works.

I tried it and as soon as I clicked on AOL a little black box appeared tat the bottom of the screen and said "too many open tabs". I tried to access Words with Friends and I can't get the names of my feloow players to show on there either. :-( So I am at a loss as to what to try now. Thanks for your suggestion.

I notice there are about three tabs on the top of my screen saying aol.com. How do I delete some of those tabs? Do you know?
