I just vaguely remember the car, but I can still see Ed Byrnes stopping to comb that hair. I think he was a valet? I can also see Efram Zimbalist, Jr, but have no clue what his role was or any other thing about the show, lol

But you're our hick and we love ya!

Truth be told, I'd guess we were raised Ed Zachary the same, just different parts of the country...and I learned to love beets as an adult, hated em as a kid

Yep....There weren't any "Marts" around here when I was a kid...I think I was in Junior High School when K-Mart came to town...Sears, Monkey Wards, Western Auto, J.C. Penny's were all in old store fronts on Broadway downtown...everything else was local...all of the groceries, the feed stores, the hardware stores, the dry goods stores...all owned by people who lived here. When I started in my career here there was still a store that sold staples to the mill workers in wash tubs...

We used to have a bread production factory in town. Lordy did it smell divine when it was in baking mode! Fresh bread and Captain Crunch, all to be smelt here on a daily basis!

Has anyone heard of "Tom's Peanuts"? They've produced salted peanuts and peanut based candies here for almost 100 years. They are owned by Lance now but still cook the peanuts about six blocks from my workplace. When they are cooking peanuts that lovely smell blankets the whole area...

I told the boys that Superman was so strong b'cuz he ate wheat bread-it worked till they were old enough to notice that their Dad never ate anything but white. I prefer wheat myself

When I was about 15, I got a job at our local 5 & 10, Sweet's was the name. Mr & Mrs Sweet were the nicest old folks but I couldn't understand half of what he said most of the time! Funny, he had an accent but I don't remember what it was...

We had the Wonder Bread Factory but it was too far away for me to remember a smell

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! Hope you've all enjoyed the day off. I dressed in red, white and blue today in order to help you all celebrate. I also had some cheesecake - not that I wanted to, but it did seem to be the appropriate thing to do. :DDD
