Excuse me, how was my suggestion not supportive.

I missed the memo where you were made boss of who could post and where.

No offense but a realistic suggestion to sell the Fire to obtain what you want is far from being cruel.

Okay, let's give this wording a shot:

The Fire does not have what you want. Amazon has not said that they're going to get it. Us customers are telling you that because the Fire is not what you want and Amazon has not said that they're going to give you what you want, you may not get what you want with the Fire. Perhaps another device would better suit your needs. Also, this is a CUSTOMER discussion board, so Amazon isn't reading your posts and taking your ideas into consideration.

This is NOT being unhelpful. This is just people telling you that the device you have may not be the best one for your needs. If you can't handle someone telling you that, then perhaps you have more issues than you're letting on.

And you have been given the authority to decide who gets to post here by...........????

Thank you for the common sense.

It's the opinion (for whatever that's worth, which is essentially nothing) of a number of posters around here that it was somewhat misleading to even call the Fire a Kindle. The "Amazon Fire with Kindle Reading App" would have been a much more accurate description.

Edited for clarity.

*PANTYWAD ALERT*!

"...I was under the impression that the forums were to help each other instead of giving us useless comments..."

No one's offended except by the tone of your post.

Mr Clark, the obligation is with the "buyer" to check what they buy has what they want,NOT with the manufacturer to "guess" that the device should have certain features wanted by users, also AMAZON own the Kindle name and misled no one about what the Kindle Fire was going to be, it was always highlighted as a tablet device NOT just an e - reader, the problem here is the number of kindle e reader owners who just "assumed" things instead of reading up or investigating what they were buying, Amazon brought this tablet out at a low cost in fact are around break even on it, what would the price be if this device had the following, text to speech, front and rear cameras, the ability to group books, gps system, the ability to personalise the device, added storage options,, increased memory etc etc etc, because this is what people are either asking for it to have or criticising it for not having, I am sure Amazon discussed all these things in detail before finalising the kindle fire best thing to do if you want text to speech so badly is to buy a kindle that supports text to speech because to say Amazon robbed or fooled or let people down is just wrong as not all the kindle e readers have text to speech either only specific models do. !!!!! so buy one of those but check first or you may be back on here complaining again.

Freedove - there are no tablets that can read Kindle books using TTS. Currently the Touch, Keyboard and DX models support that feature. Any of these can be purchased with 3G to be used without WiFi, not only the DX. No, there is no charge for the 3G service on any Kindle model.

Mr. Kirby, I tried to read your reply but I'm afraid its lack of discernable sentence and paragraph structure made it impenetrable to me. Guess I'm just old.

Or you are just rude for posting in that format.

Paragraph breaks are your friends. A huge wall of text is sure to get your post ignored.

Generally posters are very helpful if you express your limitations and ask nicely.
This really will be the best place for information on coming kindles. We have been through it before with releases of other kindles.

As an open forum anyone can post so some responses you will have to gnore.

Just put a space between your paragraphs. Like this:

AbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

AbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

AbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzAbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

That'll make it easier for everyone to read. Nobody's trying to insult you or "tell you the rules." We're just trying to tell you how to get the most out of the forum. Huge walls of text are generally ignored because they're incredibly difficult to read.

Dove, I have a keyboard Kindle and it has the TTS which I love. When the fire was first being sold there was confusion about if it would have TTS. For me, that determined the sale. I waited for the first ones to be delivered and for people to let us know. When the verdict was in that it didn't have it, I didn't buy. Don't give up on the boards, most of the people are generous and kind. I was on AOL also, spent a lot of time in Astronet. In some ways, I miss those days.

I loved my kindle keyboard. In less than a year I read a couple hundred books because of the ease of use and TTS. Alas after sending back the third one for technical difficulties I gave up and was steered to the fire by a customer service rep. Now I just want my TTS back.

Steven Alex says:
I use TTS frequently. I find the limited options for getting a Kindle with TTS frustrating. It is one of its' best features for me as i can listen while driving or doing household tasks.
