Then you should. Don't wait until it's too late. I don't know why certain users keep getting defective devices. It's a mystery to me.

Knock wood. All of my kindle devices have worked as they should, with no major problems, including my fire.

Sorry you all are having so much trouble. They really are fun little gadgets when you get a good one.

If you've tried the hard reset and it still does that there's a customer service # you can call. Mine started doing that and then wouldn't charge....they sent me a new one. Amazon custom service is awesome!

T. Kelly, my Kindle Fire has been acting up lately esp. when I use the MP3 cloud for music. If a hard boot reset doesn't work, I would check your KF's OS version to see if it is up to date. If it is not up to date, try rebooting the KF and updating the OS. If this doesn't work, I would call Amazon Customer Service and get a refund if possible. I've been through three Kindle Fire's and the third one still hangs but not as often. I am past the return date so -- I'm going to strip out the OS and tinker with it. I bought an Ipad 2 and the Kindle app works great on the Ipad 2. I think Amazon did a very poor job with the OS on the Fire which is why less people are buying the Fire and Amazon stock is going down. Sorry to hear about your difficulties with the KF. If you can return your Fire, I would do it and save the $ to buy an Ipad.

Mine froze while scrolling the book store. I did press the button for about 20 seconds and it unfroze. Thanks.

Just got mine on Saturday and it keeps freezing up. Very frustrated. Wish my parents would've gotten me the Ipad instead!

@ G-Man (Why do I feel that's not a suitable profile name for you? Hint: a post whining about a gift from their parents tells me you're a long way away from being entitled to be called a man of any sort)

You sound like the sort of ungrateful child I'm glad mine aren't.

Your kindle should not be freezing up constantly. If it really is, and you're being truthful, contact AKCS and they'll help you take steps to correct the issue, or send you a new one and a postage paid label to return the defective one.

I suspect you will not be happy with any device that is not an ipad, even if it worked perfectly. If that's the case, have your parents return your kindle and get their money back.

Then go earn enough of your own money to buy whatever you want. I know that's probably a strange concept for you. Working for what you want instead of sitting around until someone hands it to you.

Welcome to the real world. Time to grow up.

G-man, this is very typical for the Kindle Fire. If your parents can return it, then have them do so. The Fire has a very unstable OS and you are not the only one to be disappointed/frustrated. Tangie sounds jealous! I would ignore her nasty comment and go on. Just because she hasn't had a bad experience with the Fire doesn't mean you or I haven't. She sounds bitter.

In response to Tangie's posting: That was uncalled for. As for me, I'm not a child. I'm a grandmother and a nurse. I think if you can't reply to someone's posting in a way that is helpful, it would be best to refrain from making any posting at all. My Kindle Fire freezes alot too and it is frustrating to me too so I guess that makes me whiny that I spent $200 for a Kindle Fire that freezes. Frankly, you should be ashamed of YOUR behavior.

Why are so many of the posts on these Amazon forums so NASTY?

CGScammell says:
My Kindle fire stopped turning on altogether last week after it froze on me while on a website. I've had it since late December. It wouldn't let me reboot.

Today I plugged it into an outlet to recharge and got a message stating "Battery too low to recharge!" I left the device plugged in. Now, after being plugged in for eight hours only reads 1/4 charged and the battery power reads red, not green.

IMO the Kindle-Fire is going to be a massive headache for a lot of its users. I am not pleased with this thing. My other two Kindles are both still running nicely.

batgirl says:
CGScammell, I've been having the same problems with my KF #3 and I totally agree with you but their are paid (by amazon) KF enthusiasts that insist it is the users fault that these errors happen. Au contraire! I wish you luck with you Fire -- mine has not been so good. My Fire has been so unreliable that I've given up on it and now read my Kindle books on my Ipad. I know some people can't afford an Ipad so they "love" their KF's but if you have a choice -- I'd say return it. The OS is very unstable even with so-called updates. Amazon rushed the Fire to market and it shows.

Stop trying to net nanny me. Did you even read the post I responded to? Every word I wrote is true. Including the sentence indicating that I'm glad my children (and grandchildren, if you want to play those cards, I'll see your grandchild and raise you two) wouldn't dream of being ungrateful that they were given a two hundred dollar present and whining they wished we'd bought them the $600 device instead.

For that matter, did you bother to read the part of my post that explained if the device freezes "constantly" call Amazon and they will resolve the problem or exchange the defective fire for another. Apparently the answer is either no, you did not read it, or you did and chose to ignore it.

The reason I said this child was whiny had NOTHING to do with his complaining about his kindle freezing and EVERYTHING to do with his rejecting the device his parents were nice enough to buy him and wishing they had spent three times as much of THEIR money that THEY earned to buy him an ipad.

You have absolutely no right to try to tell me or anyone else here how or what to post.

You are free however to use your ignore button. Watch, while I use mine now. *CLICK* Then you'll know how to use it, too. Practice using it on me. Please.

Have a nice evening, now.

I read your whole posting and I reported it as being abusive.

You get the same advice I just gave the other poster.

Contact AKCS and if they can't resolve your problem and thus determine the device is faulty they will send you a replacement and pay the postage to return the defective one.

Simple. Very simple.

Sick that We bought this for our daughter, freezes all the time then wont turn off, if you get it off it wont charge, and sometime takes forever to get back on. Call costumer service and they said they never had any complaints. really this page is full of them...

Posted on Mar 27, 2012 6:19:02 PM PDT
If you don't get help from the first tier of AKCS (that's who answers the first contacts) ask to speak to a supervisor. They always comply, without delay or argument.

I've had unhelpful responses from the first tier only twice in the nearly four years I've been interacting with them. Both times I had an upper tier Rep on the phone/chat in less than two minutes. Both times the second Reps I communicated with were able to resolve my issues quickly and cheerfully.

So, I suggest you do that. Unless, of course, you'd rather stay sick AND dissatisfied. Your choice.

Excuse me -- Amazon Kindle support is slow and it sucks! You sound like a paid spokesperson for Amazon and stop "suggest"ing to be people on what they should do with their useless piece of junk --Kindle Fire. Once people are dissatisfied enough they will either return them in droves or through them in the trash!

I have had you on ignore since your very first post on this forum. I "unhid" your post just long enough to skim your vitriol spew as I could see that you were replying to me.

No. You're wrong, just as you always are. What I sound like, simply because I am, is a VERY satisfied long time Amazon customer. Nothing more, nothing less. There are hundreds of thousands of others just like me.

You on the other hand, only post to push your incorrect, negative and bitter, lie filled agenda. Why, I don't know. Nor do I care to know any more about you than I already do.

I am very grateful that Amazon has provided me with the means to ignore all of your "contributions" to this forum. And I thank my higher power every day that all I have to do to eliminate you (and others like you) from my life is to touch that little ignore button.

BTW You couldn't have chosen a more apt profile name unless profanity was allowed.

Enjoy your petty little bitter life. Mine is quite wonderful, in part because I don't allow negative, pathetic, complaining, vindictive, angry, sad little people intrude.

Thank Ammy for the ability to do the same on this board. And so easily too. It gives me great joy and delight to use it on you.

Oh, and thanks for making my day even closer to perfection than it was before I typed this very enjoyable post. *Grin*

I can't get my fire to go to the web. I push the web tab or FB app and it goes blank for a few seconds then sends me back to the menu. Anyone else having that problem?

I got my Kindle about 3 months ago (Christmas) it randomly turns off when I'm using it and it updates with out asking. Today it froze up and wouldn't turn off the home screen. Is this grounds for a warranty replacement or just something I have to deal with?
