@ Reader's BF - Can you please extend to Reader my wish for her recovery? If there is anything other than prayers that I can do for her, please just post. Too bad I do not live in Chicago or I would be more than happy to volunteer my services, but if there is anything, anything at all that she may or will need, please let me (us) know. Thank you for being such a good friend to her and thank you for letting us know and keeping us in the loop. Hope her feathered babies did not suffer any ill effects. I will add her name to the prayer list in our church and I am sure that if I send up a prayer for Reader, G_d will know who I am praying for. And, please tell Reader, we truly care about her and her welfare. This group is like her second family.

{{{{to you, your daughter and to Reader}}}}

Sincerely ~ ebc

Thanks for your answers, Amelia and N. Podaci. I just assumed a kindle was a kindle was a kindle! I guess I'll have to purchase another version of the games I wanted. Now, to decide which versions I want....

Readers BF,
Bless you for letting us know. I know you will tell her we are all so worried about her, she in is our thoughts. Please be sure and thank her care giver last night for letting us know there was a problem. I agree it sounds like she was having problems before hand. You sound like a great friend.

Just had a nice post all typed up and something ate. #$%^&*(.

I'm wayyy back on page 2 posting, so hopefully I'm not disturbing a convo in progress. Just returned from the flea market. Lady there had about 30 K Touches for $50 each. All had zip strips off. Other than that, no visible damage. Anyone want one?

@N. Podaci - thanks for posting The City of Refuge. The author's note was really interesting and pulled me in to click.

The City of Refuge - historical mystery - by Diana Wilder

It was once the glory of Akhenaten's reign, called 'The Horizon of the Aten'. Now the imperial city of Amarna lies wrecked, abandoned and accursed.

Police Commander Khonsu has never believed in curses, but he can't deny his own foreboding when he learns that the city's stone quarries are to be reopened at Pharaoh's command by a delegation from the great temple of Ptah at Memphis, headed by Lord Nebamun, its second-ranking priest, a man without a past who is not afraid of ghosts, curses or the dead. Assigned to guard the expedition, Khonsu accompanies the enigmatic Nebamun to the ruined city, where he finds himself entangled in a drifting web of betrayal, murder and revenge.

Thank you very much for the on-going updates, Reader's BF. It sounds like she has some loving and caring people around her. How lovely of her night nurse to have taken such an extra step to make Reader more comfortable by posting on the forum as she did last night. Give her our warmest wishes, too -- well, I should speak only for myself, but I'm sure we're all happy and grateful that she was there and so kind.

Love to Reader!

Who was it here who mentioned being friends with the author M. A. Comley? We had some discussion about bad reviews, and I had pointed to someone who gave her book "Cruel Justice" a bad review because it was written from a British viewpoint and as an American they had a hard time with it. The author had pointed out they wouldn't be offering their books for free anymore because of poor reviews.

Just wanted to let whomever that was know that Cruel Justice (Justice series (Book one)) (NOT FREE) dropped from $2.99 to $0.99, and I bought it.
Even though it is not a freebie, I posted it here so maybe word could get to the author that I appreciate the price drop and am looking forward to starting this series. I have several British mystery series going, so I am not a novice and I will leave a more-than-likely positive review when I am done, lol! Guess I shouldn't promise that, but I just have a feeling I will like these. . .

Dear Reader's BF:

Add me to the list of people grateful to you both for taking care of Reader and letting us know what happened. There are a couple of other forum regulars out of pocket and it's very frustrating to not know whether they are absent just because they are busy in RL or if something is wrong!

If you have an Amazon account at all (and my mind boggles at the thought that someone might not <g>), you can log onto that from Reader's computer and then go to Your Account/User Profile to pick your own forum name. But if Reader is comfortable with you posting as her, and she sure seems to be or she wouldn't have told you how, none of us are going to complain. We're too glad you are with her and able to let us know how she is doing!

I'm laughing at the picture of the night nurse having to call her little boy for help in posting. At least she knew who could help her - smart lady!

If anything comes up that would help to have translated to non-medicalese, please feel free to call on me. I've been an RN for 25 years, which helps in knowing the right questions to ask. My email is on my user profile (just click on the "mamasylvia" at the start of my post) and if I can help, you are welcome to either email me a phone # to call or email me and ask for my phone # to call me.

Reader is blessed to have such a loving and supportive BF. Add my good wishes to the enormous pile that is bound to protect her from harm.

ETA: and here's hoping your daughter is able to travel soon!

Is there anyone else here who is really wishing that Reader had a public wish list? I'd love to be able to send her just a wee little something that she could "open" when she's feeling better.

Readers BF....I've never been one to post in here but just pop in to look the boks over each day. Your post caught my eye and I cried thinking of how very lucky she is to have you.
I'm married to a dear man who would do anything for me but I have a daughter who has turned her back on us and my heart is breaking.
AmeliaAT, I think it would be great if we could send her a get well little do we do it?

Amelia, I know, I thought of that too. But not completely knowing her circumstances, I thought maybe the people who are taking care of her don't need to be inundated with gift emails right now.

I just hope our continued expressions of concern and communications through BF will help to brighten her spirits some. Being in a hospital setting just sucks, period. Hopefully her Kindle is fully charged and raring to go when she is. . .and then, yes, a PUBLIC WISHLIST WOULD BE APPRECIATED, lol. . .

I know Mel Comley from another thread previously on Amazon. I'm friends with her on Facebook. I will be delighted to pass the message along. She lives in Europe, so it may be a few hours before she gets it. Her new book, Foul Justice (Justice Series (Book four)), NOT FREE, was just released. That may be the cause of the price drop.

Edited for typo

Reader's BF- Thank you so much for the updates, they are much appreciated. You, Reader and your daughter are in my thoughts.

Do let us know if you're game for instructions on how to make Reader's Wish List public, I'm sure someone here would be happy to assist but also consider what Beth said. It would definitely put more on your plate and even if done with the best of intentions, it may be more than you need to deal with.

Lenora - Thanks. Love the cover for the new one - just went on the WishList. Although she should know that the price she is asking for that new one would in no one way keep me from buying it. Anything under $5 is do-able, lol, for good entertainment. I just have to get to them, first. . .my poor virtual book pile keeps getting readjusted so many times, it's a miracle it doesn't just tumble over.

ETA - as long as I don't do $5 too many times in a row, if you know what I mean. . .

@ Reader's BF

How lucky Reader is to having a loving and caring friend like you, but she is so caring that is really is no surprise. Thank you so much for letting us know what happened and bless you for being at *and on* her side.

Reader and her feathered babies are a huge part of this forum family and now so are you!

Reader is an incredible and caring person, but she needs to step back just a little bit from helping others and focus on herself right now. She needs all her strength to fight this battle. Would that we could do it for her and with her.

Enormous hugs for the all of you and well wishes for Reader and your daughter.

And Reader, demanding and cranky are good! Get well soon; you are missed so very, very much.

Thank you also to Reader's very thoughtful night nurse and her son who let us know what was happening.

Reader, you are surrounded by love and healing light. Feel it, know it, and allow it to help you.

Mel has been an intermittent poster on the free thread for a long time. She is one of the good authors who participate as readers.
She posted a couple free links within the past week or so that I got.

she is a very nice person.
