Saturday Night Cocoa Fudge: a Little Girl in the 1950s South
Saturday Night Cocoa Fudge is the coming-of-age story in an era of bobby socks, poodle skirts and the freckled-faced girl that wore them. It's also about the Deep South and sweetly flawed women who taught her what she was meant to be and what she was not meant to be.

a Touch of Ice (An Everly Gray Adventure)
Everly Gray's fingers are a magnet for trouble.

When she touches photographer Mitchell Hunt and sees the image of a dead body, she dives into the murder fingertips first. Life takes a turn for the dangerous when she discovers the body is related to a small-time crime family that accidentally stepped on the toes of notorious criminal, Delano West. Caught in a web of intrigue where nothing is as it seems, El discovers an aptitude for breaking and entering, the pain of an up close and personal meeting with a bullet, and the terror of facing a cold blooded killer. What she doesn't learn-to keep her fingers to herself.

The only recorded ordinance banning the eating of chicken with a fork is on the books in Gainesville, GA, USA.The city commission adopted the ordinance as a publicity stunt in 1961 due to Gainesville's status as "Chicken Capital of the World".

And yes, we HAVE arrested someone who violated this law!

"Lady of the Lighthouse" (Delia Daugherty Serials) was free on March 18, 2012. I downloaded it but I haven't read it yet. I have all three now.

Melissa,
If I remember correctly you had been home schooling your children. I would love to hear what they think of a regular school. Many years ago I received my teaching credential and taught for a year before I decided it was not for me. (Loved the kids, parenats were something else). Anyway, I had not wild abpout hopme schooling but the more I talked to parents the more I understood. I I had no children, especially in todays age, I would probably would home school. My reasons would be I would want my children well rounded in science, a solid grounding in a respect for all cultures and the ability to learn at there own rate of growth.

Well, it turns out I wasn't pregnant, I was simply incubating a mild ear infection and turning into what may possibly be the worst middle ear infection my doctor has ever seen. The intense pain started up the eve of my birthday, and by noon on saturday was unbearable. I was prescribed ridiculous doses of amoxicillan and percocet and spent the next two days sleeping and/or vomitting with my right ear canal swollen completely shut. It is still swollen shut, but I am actually capable of chewing and swallowing some foods now, and have managed to keep food down for 12-ish hours (yay me!) although something to do with the pressure on my tymphanic nerve is causing recurrent uncomfortable hiccups... I'm down to 1/2 tab of percocet every 6 hours as opposed to a full tab every 3 hours, but the pressure is still there, which means the dizziness is still there and everything is muffled on that side of my head. In an attempt to alleviate the earache before I went to the doctor, I browsed every homeopathic remedy I could find on the internet, and I've decided some of these people are CRAZY. First, there was a remedy that called for heating peroxide... which changes it's chemical composition and can cause 3rd degree burns and chemical burns... NEVER head hydrogen peroxide, ever. Another called for cutting a clove of garlic into the shape of an ear bud and inserting it into the ear canal... NEVER put anything smaller than your elbow into your ear. EVER. And, one remedy claiming that putting a few drops of urine into your ear can work wonders. PASS. NEVER put urine back in your body. Eww. Now that the few weeks of inactivity and otherwise not being myselfness has been explained, I'm off to peruse the kinlib list. Happy Hunting, fellow readers!

OH! A lady in my area is selling a kindle (basic eInk reader) with TWO covers and a $25 gift card for $65. Since hubby is constantly stealing mine... I think if it's still available on friday, I will be making this purchase. Thank you to everyone who wished me happy birthdays, aside from the ear-junk, it really was a great b-day. I spent it shopping with my mother and my darling son... It was a fun, exhausting day, and I was quite simply spoiled with not only great bargains, but all of the things that I wanted and couldn't justify spending hubby's hard earned money on... my mama bought :D what a good mama.

Hugs to Melissa, Reader, Shay & anyone else who needs some! Hope you all get better soon.

I can't understand how some of you can only pick up 2 or 3 books a day! My Kindle is soooo fat from getting 30-40 or so a day. Being interested in many genres is a bad habit...

I'm feeling markedly better today, which is a good thing, because yesterday morning i thought i might be dying... but i'm a "wait-and-see"er so I could actually die of something before it ever crossed my mind to see a doctor.

Shay,
Missed having you around. I know the pain. Two days after graduating from high school I came down with massive infections in both ears. When they finally opened up I my ears drained for days. A few years later, during a physical, the doctor told me I had ear canals that go up at 90 degress and not straight like they should be. This explained the constant ear infections I had fought all my young life. Ever since then I have been very careful. I use earmuffs, earwax cleaner etc.
I am glad you still had a good birthday, and even happier to have you back.

I've used hummus as a spread for a turkey sandwich. Put it on a high fiber flatbread or tortilla, add some lettuce and spinach, and it's a very healthy, tasty lunch. I even get my daughter and her friends to eat it by calling it a Turkey Hummer. ;-)

I used to get pretty bad ear infections in this same ear when i was a kid, but i don't think i've had one this bad ever, and i haven't had one bad enough to even need antibiotics in over 10 years. it started up right as i was getting over the flu in the beginning of march but it was really mild and i just assumed the nausea and sleepiness were another pregnancy... but the tests kept coming up negative.

I pick up 10-12 books a day and am getting my Kindle classic tomorrow so I can read outside. :)

My husband accepted a year subscription to his long running WoW account and will get the Diablo3 game free. It will download to his account, so he is going to download it on my PC...and I will play it. Unfortunately he not going to play Diablo with me, but I do want it. :)

Micki-
You know you can start sending books to your new kindle now, right? Go into Manage Your Kindle/Manage Your Devices and as soon as it is shipped it should show there.
(unless he ordered it as a gift and then it won't be registered)

So, what are you going to name your Kindle?
