We had to replace my daughter's due to the same charging issue. She had made progress on games and lost it all when the new Kindle came because there is no SD card available to save the games. I am really annoyed and customer service isn't helping very much.

It seems a lot of people is having the same issue with kinds fire. I just receive a replacement and it looks like something is wrong with this too. My replacement is not charging and there's not orange or green light. I always been pleaced with costumer service response but this situation with the devise is really annoying.

Just got my 3rd fire from betsbuy. First one lasted since Christmas. This one lasted 2 weeks. Same charge problem. Its not the charger because we have 2 fires and use each others chargers. Bestbuy replaced it both times no problems. Hope this one lasts longer

Frustrating to say the least! On my second KF because it won't charge. First one lasted 6 mos. Amazon sent a new replacement after questioning me to see if I tried "wiggling" the cord to get the charge to work. Really? If I had to WIGGLE the cord to get the KF to work it would indicate a blantant problem and would be unacceptable for a $200 piece of technology! The second one arrived in 2 days. 4 weeks later the second one won't charge at all. This product is faulty and a one year warranty is not adequate with such a wide known issue! Amazon needs to extend the warranty or provide full refund so I can find another reader that's reliable and worth the money!!!!

Amazon is actually replacing my Kindle Fire because charging it is becoming more difficult with the loose port connections. My charger actually falls off and I don't abuse I chatted today with a rep from Amazon and they are sending me a new one. I wondered if this was something amazon was aware of because they didn't ask any more questions, it is like they already knew about the problem. One year warranty get it replaced!

I am very careful using my kindle device to charger connection but still am on my third kindle fire in eight months due to this problem and don 't have much faith in not having to go back to Best Buy for more replacement units. If I didnt love my Kfire so much I would check out what my state 's "lemon " law covers as I am getting tired of having to set up and redownload every time the device connector fails. Wonder if knowingly continueing to manufacture faulty product qualifies for some type of class action suit? Having to replace Kfire every several months is making me verrrrrry crabby!

My one friend contacted them and they told her she would have to wait until it totally died so today I told her to get on chat again and now they are sending the new one. Mary

Another thing to be aware of is that you cannot do a reset to factory settings if unit charge is less than 40%, so you have to "trust " that store or amazon resets for you and no one accesses stuff on old Kfire if you cannot get it to charge sufficiently to personally do a factory reset.

same problem here. already had one replaced and now having charging issues on the second unit. the unit belongs to my son. I was seriously thinking about getting myself a KF but with this charging bug, I'm really having second thoughts. Note to Amazon: I think you guys rushed it to the market in time for Xmas last year, and although I appreciate your keeping the cost cheap, I'd rather pay an extra $20 bucks for a unit that I can actually recharge.

I am on my fifth kf. I love it but starting over each time is a pain. Each time I take it back I have to feel guilty and be scrutinized by the staff as if I do this on purpose. I have to drive 39 miles each way. I would be much easier if it just worked

You have far more patience than I. But if I had gone through four devices I would have come to the conclusion that the chances I was receiving bad units time after time was infinitesimal compared to the likelihood that the problem lay with me.

Why do you have to drive 39 miles to take it back? I got mine at best buy but when I chatted with amazon they are the ones that took mine back and sent the new one or did you buy some kind of extended warranty from best buy? Mary

The port where you place the charger is very very fragile. Holding it while using it jiggles it around and causes it to loosen to the point where it works less if not at all. I am learning this. My charger works some of the time. I have kids and they use the kindle. Sometimes I'm operating my kindle while holding a baby. I hope this lasts me at least another 6 months or so. I got mine in November 2011

Because so many of us are having problems with the port and charging and eventually needing to get Kindle Fire replacements, if Amazon customer service was smart we would be offered the next newest release at the price we paid for our Kindle Fire or at a much reduced price!! Rumor has it there is going to be an upgrade. PLEASE may it have the ability to place in collections our books!! I am now on my 3rd Kindle Fire.

I have been saying the same thing, Cheryl. I am also on my third KF and just know at around the 4 month mark I will start having the charging problems again. And I agree with you, we should be offered the next generation at a MUCH reduced price, especially those of us that have returned, reloaded, returned, reloaded and returned and reloaded our KF. I love my KF but my husband DIDN'T buy one for himself after seeing the problems I've been having with mine. I got mine as a Christmas gift, I didn't really want one but love it now that I have it. I would hate to have to go back to reading ONLY my Kindle Reader. Maybe we should bombard CS with requests for price breaks on the new KF?

Do Amazon customer service representatives read our posts? If so, come on everyone--let them know our opinions on this. I too love my Kindle Fire but am sick and tired of reloading everything. Got a great app. To put my books in collections and lost all the placements when I needed to reload on my replacement Kindle. Can we bill Amazon for our time and aggravation? My time is valuable. If these were cars there would be a recall or satisfactory replacement that would last and keep us as customers. Amen.

As I said in prior post (I am on kindle number three and getting tired of having to reconstruct my kfire life not to mention time having to go to best buy to exchange, contacting zagg for new screen protector) The only way it seems that they will sit up and pay attention it seems is if a class action attorney has chronic problems with their kindle fire, notices that there is a massive group of us out here and decides to file class action litigation.

I am having the same issue as everyone here. I have to play with the charger in the port to get it to charge. Once it is on I leave it alone. I am with you all on paying so much money for this device when money is already scarce for it not to work properly is bad business. I don't think I would have the patience to replace it 5 times and why should you have to it should work right the first time. Bad design or whatever it should be replaced with one that works. I am going to call to get it replaced for the first time hopefully they will resolve this issue because I really don't want to have to call every 2 months for a new one.

I've had my Kindle Fire for so long, but now it chooses not to charge. is it the charger or the Kindle thats not working?!?

Mary says:
Did you try a different plug like a cell phone charger or the USB for the computer to see if that works? Mine was the charging port as no other plug would work so they replaced the fire and the plug for me. Mary
