@TerryinTexas - dharts is referring to FMLA: Family Medical Leave Act - provides job protection when time off is needed to care for immediate family member - can't remember more specifics; however, I think it would be of benefit to you. Do your own research so as to be pone step ahead of your Personnel Dept. (pays to protect yourself!)

I am truely offended!

TerryinTexas - yes, certainly talk with higher ups and maintain open communication.....FMLA is, I think, a federally mandated program. In past with employers, I've cruelly deceived myself by being lulled into a false sense of security.....of family.....of all together now. Just saying from my experience.

Some folks entering an assisted living facility due to Alz. are eased by having/bonding to a teddy or some type of stuffed animal - a transition and ongoing comfort object.

Agree very much with suggestion to find home with locked doors as wandering can be quite a problem, especially at night ("Sundowners Syndrome"). If you are worried about your Dad getting out of bed and from there into trouble, bed alarms are an option. I think the individual is loosely tethered to the bed, still able to move in bed to turn and reposition; however, if gets up and moves just a bit from bed an alarm sounds. Hope I'm remembering how bed alarm works.....they are often in use in many settings, including in person's own home.

@OregonFiddler - you must have been very much on my mind during your time of "busily making dog food" because I took a horribly unfortunate and truly wicked turn while busily making shepherd's pie this afternoon.
Any room left in your dog's dish? (edited to add this pertinent ??)
Oh, the misery, the howling, the keening......

I am always available to compose a list of acceptable word choices; however, I'd much rather compose a list of unacceptable word choices;-)!! My dance card is sooooo empty!!

Have fun with your new bike, MamaSylvia. I've been looking at one that includes arm movement but haven't decided whether to get it or not. Thought the arm stuff would be good for the broken arm when I get more range of motion and of course the rest would be good for my heart and blood pressure. Been having trouble keeping the BP down since the fall and I'm sure turning into a lazy blob hasn't helped with that.

Moons/Sedona she doesn't really end up in Hollywood. They make a girl pal road trip expedition there to help one of her new friends. Like I said, the plot sort of meanders all over the place. Anyway, where she ends up at the end of the book is much more mundane.

It really is worth reading. I don't mean to give such a negative impression. It was one you'd read once and delete from device, though, not one you'd want to read again. I don't know if you'd want to expend the effort on it as one of the discussion books but YMMV.

I have a Kindle Keyboard (non-wifi) and i want a case. I found a pouch for it back when i first got it, and it works, but i would like one like a book type thing, except still very slim (hate to add bulk, but it needs to be protected) I have some gift cards, but wish i had a fire and could get the $5 one someone posted! Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Stacy

Rahoo Tigaroo,
How right you are about the stuffed animal. My mother was upset about the move to assisted living so for some reason I bought a little black and white stuffed bunny. We nicknamed it after the area she was moving to. For some reason it gave her comfort and helped her to remember. I stll have that little bunny.

MamaSylvia says:
I liked the bike I got because it was relatively inexpensive $129, looked reasonably comfortable to sit on, and looked like I would be able to actually pedal it. But I have to be able to read while pedaling, which lets out arm moving. (Easily bored, that's my middle name!)

What I think is important is finding something you will actually use. We had an exercycle sitting in the living room for years, but it was fairly high in the air and I simply couldn't climb onto it. This one has a gap of floor between the pedaling part and the seat, so I can get in and out. There are lots of different types of exercise, and they are all good IF DONE REGULARLY. That's the key. DH walks, as do some of the readers on here. Jacqueline said she does workout videos. The key is simply to pick something and DO IT. Likewise, it doesn't matter how little you have to start with, as long as you are working towards the point at which you start getting cardiovascular benefits. Even at my current 12 minutes, I'm not stretching my CV system and I'm probably not kicking my metabolism up either. But I'm getting there! And I can make myself do exercise that lets my body do the work while my mind is lost in a book.

Jacqueline says:
BJ - my you do have an adventurous life!! I was wondering if you checked online to see this credit card information? because I agree there is NO way it could now be gone. I had an auto debit on Discover once for $20.00 and forgot it, Discover did not have my correct email and finally they mailed me a bill - and carp!!! the reversed all charges on it, but it took 62 days for me to call and a late payment was reported to my admittedly perfect credit. I was soooooo bummed!

anyway, if a card was opened it ought to show online under your account(s), yes? Otherwise it does sound like someone was doing something weird. Do you have caller ID? Did you call back the actual number for the card issuer and talk to someone there?.....I never trust inbound calls, I always call back to the listed number....

so I hope it can all be resolved and you can get peace of mind asap!!!

Take care - @ everyone!

I knew what you meant. You have a Kindle wi-fi keyboard which is a K3.

I am away to bed. Have fun shopping.

As long as they are leather I have been happy. Acase, Boxwave and Roocase make excellent covers. M-edge cases are nice as well.

Go to medge.com, click on "by device" then, Kindle, then Kindle 3, then on the R side click on the New Yorker covers. They are beautiful, normally sell for $40, but are still on sale for $9.99 and they will send a free $20 M-edge reading light with the cover. That light is the best one I have ever owned, and I have bought about 20 different ones. It is great and takes one AAA battery.
