Waiting for my kindle.....
The world library site seems to have lots of interesting books and in different languages.
Has anyone downloaded any and had the PDFs converted? What is the quality of the text?

Do they look like books or like ascii files?

Thanks

Isn't there some way to make this thread a "sticky" so we don't have to keep bumping it? It's got such great info, that IMNSHO it needs to stay near the top of the list. :-)

Yes, Amazon can do it, but since this list only serves to take business away from Amazon, it does not serve them well to keep this post visible.

You can also download tens of thousands of original books, short stories, and more at Booksie.com. We'll be adding specific support for the Kindle shortly.

I think also that this is a major strength of the Kindle. I am trying to backfill my education and sites like Gutenberg are tailor made for me.
