I have borrowed an ebook from my library through Overdrive and downloaded the free Kindle app for PC. Amazon does not recognize the fact that I have the Kindle app on my PC despite the fact that when I open the app it acknowledges me as the owner of the app. Amazon says that it does not see a registered device to support the ebook that I am attempting to send to the Kindle for pc app. Any ideas ?

whe i go to a book at the library it says if it is a Kindle book download. Some books do not come up as KINDLE but for other devices. Is it possible to download these books to the KINDLE or do I stay with KINDLE BOOKS only?

You need the Kindle version. It's up to your library which versions of which ebooks it purchases.

No, it's up to the publisher which versions of which ebooks they offer. Some publishers offer only epub; others have kindle and epub. There's no extra charge - one charge gets the library all the available ereader formats.

I have been borrowing Kindle books from the library to use with my Kindle for Android app and/or Kindle for PC. One of the books says it can only be downloaded and transferred via USB. This is from my Amazon.com account. Does anyone know how to do this using either a PC or Android phone? I also have an iPad 2 with Kindle for iPad app, so I could use that device too . I just can't seem to get this book on any of my devices.

The title of this discussion is misleading - library books for Kindle are currently only available in the USA. It should read that in the title so people like me don't end up buying a Kindle and then not being able to use it! It is misleading of Amazon to state so, when the product is so widely available worldwide. Until the library feature is added to the Kindle outside the USA, I am protesting by refusing to buy anything, and I mean anything, from Amazon.

So you read a thread title and buy a Kindle based on that, without even bothering to open up the thread and read the FIRST SENTENCE of said thread?

"We're excited to tell you that starting today, Kindle and Kindle app customers can borrow Kindle books from more than 11,000 libraries in the United States."

It is NOT up to amazon/kindle to "add library access". Each library decides IF they will as well as WHAT books they will stock. My local library does NOT offer ebooks and has no plans to do so (I live in US). I don't blame kindle for that though. Borrowing for the kindle is MUCH easier then borrowing for the nook as htye get sent right to the kindle. Maybe you could pay to join the philadlephia free library? they offer ebook access for only a $35? fee if you don't live there. Either way its not amazons fault.

There is a connector that uses USB on one end and the same small connector for your kindle that is used on the recharger device. If your PC, tablet or phone has a USB slot you can download to the tablet into your kindle. Walmart has a set of connectors that are universal to most US devices. But you must first make sure you have a USB slot on the device you intend to download to from the Library. A PC always has USB slots unless it is older than 2000 or 2002. check your manual and PC kindle is available at Amazon for free download, then you can use the tail with the right connectors to download to your kindle. a simple operation once you've done it. Ask a friend to help if you don't think you can do it yourself. But I'll bet you can if you try.
