take it out of the case and put it in the frige for 3 minutes .when it does this it means that it is over heated

How can it be overheated if the screen is "freezing"?

Glenn, I was having the "freezing" issue as well. The information that you posted, as above, took care of my Fire problem and very much improved my charge life. (Followed your advice /instructions several weeks ago...) This was the only issue I have had with my Fire and I am grateful to you and the many other forum mainstays who readily share your knowledge. Many thanks!

My kindle is frozen I've tried holding down the power button for 20 seconds. It won't turn off, it's stuck! Its been frozen since 2:57p.m. and its 8:38 p.m. Its so hot!

Rogue says:
Disconnect from your charger and hold the power button a full 30 seconds, count them off! Then release the button and press again briefly to restart. "Kindle Fire" screen will come on while restarting.

My first one worked fine for a week or two. Than it froze, nothing helped I was powerless. I let it die putting it on the charger. It worked for three days before it totally died. I got it replaced and my second one worked good. Than it started to freeze. I think I am going to get Mg money back and go with a ipad2.

6th one? Wow! What are you trying to do when it freezes up ? I've never heard of anyone going through 6 devices before. Did you fully charge it, about 4 hours, prior to use? If not, then put it on the charger for 4 hours ignoring the charge light. After the 4 hours, disconnect for the charger(very important step). The hold the power button in for a full 30 seconds. Time them, don't guess. Then release the button and press once briefly to restart. Allow your Fire to restart. Sounds like there must be something in particular that is causing the freezing to occur. Is this the case or is it totally random? That would be hard to believe that 6 devices would have the same issue, almost impossible actually! Let us know what happens. Glenn

Edit: Please read through this information regarding battery charging and maintenance as well as doing the hard reset of your Fire.

This one I charged for at least 3 hours. I received at 9 this morning. I then turned it on to register it, clicked the wi-fi to choose and it froze. I called and apparently the software wasn't updated, updated it and freezing while downloading apps. It freezes when I put it to sleep. It freezes after restarting it then have to restart it again. It freezes on internet page with pictures and no videos. It froze on Temple Run. I'll put it to sleep and it will restart itself. I have left it on the charger for a day for 8 hours 12 hours, doesn't matter. I have done where I drain the battery to 19% and then fully charge. It's frozen running through the carousel. Many times it'll freeze 10 times in 45 minutes all doing different things. Sometimes it resets itself sometimes I have to do it.
