Now that is a bit personal Carol but I don't give a toss luckily.

I should say part time house mate as HE spends half the week at his GF's place.

Scroll down the page to the video titled...
Google Now Search 'Faster' than Siri in Video Comparison
http://www.nexustablets.net/

This is the Galaxy Nexus phone running the same Android version as the new Nexus 7 tablet. That also has this voice recognising program on it. Remarkable!

Bet the Fire can't do that. Oh forgot, it has no microphone!

I would use a tablet mainly for things like email, forums and banking.

Google was faster but did you notice how most of the Apple results had more information and looked a lot better. Like the baseball game stats and Kobe Bryant information. Even the weather forecast had more days and there were more photos of bulldogs on the Apple. Nothing Google can't improve but it looks kind of unpolished.

Thanks Carol, that Ubergizmo link was good.

Here is an interesting interview with Matias Duarte about some of the design choices that went into the Nexus 7:

Google for accuracy...

His results showed Siri understood 83 per cent of the questions asked during noisy situations and 89 per cent in quiet situations. She answered 62 per cent of the questions asked in noisy conditions correctly and 68 per cent in the quiet room.

By comparison, questions typed into Google were understood every time, and Google replied accurately 86 per cent of the time.

On another point the Nexus 7 inbuilt GPS apparently works very well without needing an internet connection and has a choice of free map apps that are available.

LOL Stuttering now Carol? A double post. ["."]

Personally I am not interested in a 10" tablet although the future (Read near) looks exciting.

I only hope Amazon take heed and at least copy Google's Nexus features to allow those Fire fan boys a chance to experience what a fully featured tablet has to offer.

Another good review and video here...

This entire discussion could be for naught:

Also the 10" Galaxy Tab has been banned, but Samsung may be appealing (of course they will). Just not sure how that affects Googles' branded tablet. It could be why they rushed an announcement out and pushed it into production and sale.

I can't believe you might be referring to my post.....if you are...all I can do is shake my head.....

Most any app that can be used on a phone can be used on a tablet. You think just because Apple went after these one or two products, that they won't be going after more Google Nexus branded devices. If you do, I have a Timex Sinclair computer I'd like to interest you in.

and no, I do not own any Apple products (except for a 6 year old iPod which I don't use anymore)

and no, I don't own any Barbie dolls either (although I did uncover several decapitated ones in my daughters old toy box recently)

Where did you get out of that I hated Samsung?? I think you are the one a little mixed up, or maybe a little anger management would help. I think the know-it-all is in your mirror.....
