If I do what you say do I loose all my apps, books, music, and everything else? If so would it stay on my cloud? I was going to do this but thought maybe I'd ask to see if it deleted everything.

Thank you, thank you! I was on the web yesterday and it was fine. Today it was simply not there even though I could download books, apps, etc. I love this forum for help.

I had a wifi connection. I could use the app store and games that needed internet connection but when I tried to open google or FB it would just send me back to the home screen. I found this post and IT WORKED! Thank you Randy!!!

I had the same issue and just got it resolved on the phone with Customer Service. Kindle Fire was connected to WiFi, but could not access web / internet.
Here is the fix:
To to settings (Little wheel / gear at top right of screen)
Click "More" button
Click Applications
Click Drop Down Box and Filter by: All Applications
Scroll down to "Browser"
Click Clear Data Button
That's It!
Good Luck... Worked like a charm for me.

Same problem here in three months

@Lynn Bulkley

I know that your other device are connecting to the internet, but try this anyway. As a WiFi Router, like any other computer can lose it's mind. So to speak.

Unplug your router from the electrical outlet. Leave it that way for at least a minute. Then plug it back in and give it a minute to fully reconnect. then try your Kindle Fire's again.

Both of my Kindle Fires are having the same problem. All other electronic devices in our home are connected to the internet, but not the KF. They have been working just fine till this week. What is going one?

I was facing the same issue with my KF. Every time I was trying to connect to my wifi, my router crashed.
Temporary Solution:
I restarted my router, my kindle, and it got connected. But this solution does not work all the time.
Alternate solution:
I bought another router and I didn't have to restart my router or KF. It got connected the first time and works just fine.

"And to top it all off, the same time this stuff started happening, the internet on my laptop has become very erratic."

lleach, did it occur to you that since two devices are both having problems, the source is neither of them?

Your wireless router is failing, or you're experiencing radio interference. Try rebooting the router. Try changing the router to a different channel. Try getting closer to the router. If none of these clears up the problems on your laptop and your KF, replace the router.

Don't blame the Kindle Fire. It's a victim, not an instigator.

Update: This is exactly as I feared. My kindle is now doing the same thing. It says it connects, but then that damn little x appears next to the wifi icon. I have no internet, cannot access web, stores, etc. And to top it all off, the same time this stuff started happening, the internet on my laptop has become very erratic. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn't. I've tried everything that supposedly works, clearing cache, turning static ip on and off, reboot, hard reboot, time zone, etc....nothing is working. I'm taking my KF back to store. This is ridiculous. And for amazon being "aware" of the problem, they sure as hell haven't addressed it very well at all. I was in love with my old kindle (keyboard) and updated to this but after their poor handling of this WELL known and documented problem, I doubt I'll even go back and purchase a different kindle. No more amazon for me. And for people who say its their ISP or router, this seems highly unlikely as thousands of people are plagued with their problem across the nation with different brands of routers and different ISPs. The common factor: The kindle fire.

Have a fire and my mom brought hers overand itworked fine for about an hour then didnt. It was connecting to wifi but not internet. Tried a bunch of stuff on here and then did this....reset her clock and time zone...cleared the cache and turned static ip off under wifi advanced settings and then shut down and rebooted kindle and it works now. Didnt have to do anything to router or update anything and not sure whichsolution actually fixed it but its wortha try i guess. Just bought my kindle a few days ago and noproblems yet but if i get this same problem and have to screw around with it for a whole day like my moms i will definitely take it back to store....pretty disappointed in amazons lack of input on here and by the look of these posts they seem to be telling everyone a different solution

Solution for WNR2000 routers:
Had same issue (wifi connected but no internet) and setting router to lowest mode (54Mbps) fixed it. Tried everything else listed here and instructions from Amazon CS.

I am having a issue with the Internet but not the connection. Sometimes when I'm scrolling down facebook or a cooking recipe it freezes and I have to hold the power button down to get it to turn off. Also everytime I open the web browser a new tab opens to some random history like FB or youtube. Its very annoying and happens every time. Is there a number I can call for support?

Thank you Lynn. I was able to get to the internet but not to any pages. I adjusted the setting the way you did and now everything is fine.

I had the problem where my Kindle saw my mifi but my mifi didn't see the Kindle, so I had no internet. I went into the Kindle wireless network, then advanced settings, then turn off using static IP. I turned the Kindle off then on again and now I have internet.

Posted on May 16, 2012 9:24:01 AM PDT
My Kindle Fire does not show any wireless networks. My wireless is working fine on ohter items. I have tried re-boot, etc. Could this be the internal router?

In reply to an earlier post on May 7, 2012 2:54:17 PM PDT
Call support. My problem was the cache in the browser that was full. I found the applications and saw the browser listed. I was able to clear out the browser and it worked for me. Good luck.

Olds, sounds familiar, I can connect just fine at home. But, at the office which is open wifi to employees I just cannot get a connection. It asks if I want to login, I reply yes, and I get a blank/white screen with the word 'login' in the very top left corner but no amount of pressing results in a response. I have an ipod touch in the office as well and that connects to the free wifi with no problems at all! I am wondering after all these comments if the Kindle was a good idea for a Christmas gift :0
