Did you only come here to tell everyone how rude they are?

Btw, you haven't given any answers, either, so why are you criticizing others for not giving answers?

The first number of responses here were very rude to the OP.

How bout this, how about answer the question? As in go to Amazon.com, then go to manage your devices, then find your registered device and click "edit" where it says "subscribed" under "special offers". For a fee you can opt out of the ads.

Boom. For the same effort as deriding the OP for her apparently overlooking the obvious, you could've actually answer her question.

Sean Lavery says:
I've actually done so. Really though. Why be rude?

It's a complete waste of time, and counterproductive to boot.

You might not have noticed but the dates on the OP and following posts are in July. The option you gave was not available at that time.

In any case there's answering questions and there's being rude.

I bought the kindle when it didn't have ads but then they started to appear after i connected to the internet one day on it, and ever since then I've been upset. I preferred it when my kindle showed pictures of authors. I NEVER had seen anything advertised on that thing that I actually want, and I am offended they are shoving those advertisements in my face. And you can't say I didn't do the research because mine was the original 3rd generation and originally didn't have the ads.

No one is rude. Sometimes, when a particularly repetitive or ridiculous (like this one) question is asked, people respond in a snarky manner. This is to point out the absurdity of the question and to provide more entertainment for me. Seriously, the OP are asked how to turn off the feature that made the device available at a discounted price? Tacky. Why are you so worried about something that happened so long ago anyway? When did you come on duty?

You must have somehow changed over to the ad supported version - you're able to do that on your device page. Go to your account and click where you can manage your devices. Find the K3 and switch off the ads. It's not hard to do.

MariaC -- please learn to capitalize you are showing your ignorance. I have never looked at the reduced price Kindle 3 because my Kindle 2 works just fine, but I understood that the reduced price was being supported by the ads.

Good thing you deleted that post, Jason. It just showed what kind of person you are.

I typed "Kindle" in the search box and the first one that came up was:

Kindle, Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display - includes Special Offers & Sponsored Screensavers

What about "Special Offers" did you not get? Or did you not read? I really don't understand how you could miss it.

What is this "get a life" of which you speak?

I guess this means that you need to get a life, since you were so rude.

It must mean to get on Internet forums & tell people how rude you think they are.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 28, 2012 4:09:07 PM PST
In that case I'll just keep my no-life. It's more fun.

So how are my little nephews doing? Still giving you are hard time? :)

Much more fun.
