I checked they said they can give me 75 dolars for something I PAYED 270 dollars for i included warranty for two years and only get 75 dollars. i want more does anyone know how much i can get it for its brand new had it proctected since day one and i dont want to sell it on ebay if i dont have to.

Mary says:
Is the warranty transfferable? You best bet is sell it locally or ebay but e-bay would only work for a big ticket item like that if you are an established seller. If you a brand new selling on e-bay better to start with small stuff and build a reputation. If you don't sell on e-bay if you have a friend that is an established seller they could list it for you. Mary says:
Well you need to contact the warranty company and ask other wise that selling point means nothing to someone buying it if they can't use the extended warranty. I didn't get one for mine so I have no clue how they work. Mary

Loose charger issue. CS said they would replace but they are backordered 1 to 2 months? This is a first gen. I doubt they are making these so I dont understand the wait?

Mary says:
Wow I chatted with a rep Nov 26th as soon as it happened and my second replacement has shipped and will be here the 5th. Sounds like I just made it so I don't have to wait 2 months. Mine won't charge at all, can't even wiggle it to get the light to come on. Last time they had my replacement here in 2 days but this time it's taking more than a week. Mary

This is why I bought from Best Buy (same price as Amazon at time of purchase) w/2year. additional warrantee) I am on third kFire 1 .........I just drive over to store, picked up new Kfire. Warantee will replaces with the comprable current kFire since they no longer sell old model, should number three go awry.

Yes but BB wanted 3/4 the cost of the kindle for a 3 year warranty. I wasnt going to pay 150 for 199 device.

Cluny says:
My warantee (2yr) was $45 at my BB.

Mary says:
So when you bought the BB extended warranty did you buy it on the spot when you bought the kindle and did it start right then and there or after the 1yr amazon warranty was up? I don't want to buy an extended warranty on things until just before the 1yr manufacturers warranty is up. If you get a 1yr manufacturers warranty on something I can't see paying for a 2yr warranty that starts at the same time. Mary

Cluny says:
Purchased at time of purchase, covers some things that mfr warantee does not cover (first year overlap) . As I am on my third first generation Fire, I do not have much faith that this one will last to the two year warantee expiration. Forty five dollars to replace in year two if needed is better than having to buy a new one.

Mary says:
What does it cover extra? Every one I know that has had trouble with their original fires in the 1yr amazon replaced them weather it be charging issues, freezing, just died or what not so I can't see what extra it would cover that amazon would not take care of in the 1yr unless you mean if the user drops it by accident or dropped it in water or something. Well.. let me clarify. I just bought 3 Kindle HDs for my kids. They are the same price the gen 1 was when I bought it 199. Best Buy said they wanted $150 EACH for a 3 year warranty.

Cluny says:
I wouldn't have bought extended for that money either. Next time that I am in BB, I 'm going to ask price for extended 3yr for HD. Accidental dropping was one of the things covered by BB warantee.

I just checked website... says 79 for 2 year... didnt list 3 year... can only get that instore. Too bad Amazon paired up with Squaretrade... they uped their price or ot would have been 44 or less for 3 years with ST.

Mary says:
Ok then if it covers accidental dropping then worth it to get it on the spot. I just went online to best buy and put the 7" HD in the shopping cart and the choices for extra warranty were $39.99 for 1yr accidental coverage and $79.99 for 2yrs of accidental coverage. The 8.9" with 16gb was $49.99 for 1yr and $99.99 for 2yrs and same for the 32gig so the price varies by model it seems. Mary

I am having same problem. It's not the charger, it's the kindle. I have to keep moving the charger around and it has to be in a specific place or it won't charge. Sometimes it won't charge at all. You can't use the kindle while it's charging because the connection gets loose and stops charging. Now I noticed that the green light goes on when the kindle is not fully charged.

Mary says:
Both times as soon as I noticed it was getting loose I called right away. At least they are good about replacing. Mary

I just got my Kindle last week. It loses it's charge, if I'm lucky, in 3 hours. I have to sit at the computer with the thing pluged in the whole time. I hate it. It has been charging since over 5 hours and it is only 65% full. I think it's actually losing power as it's charging. Is anyone else having this problem.

Well I know people with more expensive things that have had trouble so you just never know with electronics. Mary

Charge from a wall charger, not your computer. Download Battery HD from the Amazon Appstore and calibrate your battery with the tool it provides.

If you are using the KF while it is charging and you're using a low power charge source it's possible to drain the battery more quickly than it can be charged. (Think of trying to fill a bucket with a hole in the bottom.)

Get a wall charger with specs that meet or exceed 5V/1.8 amps and the KF will charge even while in use. The one below works quite well.

PowerGen Dual Port USB 2.1A 10W AC Travel Wall Charger for Apple iPad 2, New iPad 3, Amazon Kindle, Kindle DX, Kindle Fire / Noble Nook Color / HTC Flyer / Samsung Galaxy Tab Series (USB Cable not included) - White
