We've been trying to tether a new Fire HDX to a Samsung Galaxy Fame without success. The phone's wi-fi hotspot is recognised by the Fire and claims to be connected, but there's a cross on the wi-fi logo at the top right of the screen, and no access to the internet. Just been talking with 2 people from Amazon support with 2 different messages, but the more convincing one stated that there's a compatibility issue and tethering won't be possible. Anyone got experience which contradicts this view?

I've been trying for two hours. No go so far. Newest HDX as of 11/1/2014.

You need to select the hotspot from the Wi-Fi page on your Fire - it isn't automatic the first time.

when i turn on the hotspot they don't connect

You cannot connect your Fire to the Internet using a Bluetooth hotspot if that's what you mean. You have to use the phone as a Wi-FI hotspot to connect your Fire.

i have paired my kindle fire with my motorola droid razrm; however, even though they "see" each other they won't connect using my phone as a hotspot

read all the posts and this last one really works. I have a samsung galaxy s III. install pdanet+ on the phone and
follow instructions. my kindle fire immediately recognized my phone as a mobile hotpot. I will keep an eye on my data usage as recommended but at least I don't have to pay the extra $20 a month to Verizon.

The Kindle will only tether to a Wi-Fi hotspot on the phone NOT BT.

No go here; my Droid Razr M paired with my Kindle b but my Kindle will not pair with it. A Downs also on my razor I had a password to un-lock my phone; after paying $7.95 and unlocking the full version of the app on foxfi my droid locked me out! I want my money back and I'm removing my battery and t hat app - bad news.

My Galaxy Nexus (2012) Hotspot works fine for my KF HD. I use the widget Hotspot Toggle. My carrier is Verizon and since I have a tiered data plan (not unlimited) there is no additional cost or need to contact VZW.

Has anyone tried to tether the hotspot of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with the Kindle Fire HDX? This would be a Deal Breaker for me.

The droidx is a natural for tethering with kindle fire hd 8.9. Just go to settings and select "Tethering and Hotspot." It's ideal for me since I have unlimited data. No rooting necessary.

How did you set it up. I have the Droid 4 which over all is the same setup and I have tethering on my phone. I use it with my laptop at work so I know it works. Can you please assist?

Okay, I downloaded FoxFi on my Droid X, and it worked just fine with my Kindle Fire.

Charlotte - you're not using the free FoxFi app then, you're using your cellular provider's app.

I tried that on my Droid X, and it works fine IF I pay an additional $20.00 month

CoachW is right.....connected Droid X to Kindle Fire HD using Foxfi to create free HotSpot. Otherwise Verizon was going to charge me $20 above the price I already pay for data plan.
