I bought a Kindle Paperwhite on April 19 for $139, $20 more than today's price. Does Amazon still have their price-guarantee policy for electronics? I feel a little burned seeing the price drop so soon after I bought.

Edited to add:
I sent a cordial email to kindle-cs-support@amazon.com and received an almost immediate refund of $21.40 including tax. So, the price drop guarantee still exists, but isn't made obvious.

What did Kindle Customer Service say when you asked them?

King Al says:
Why are you expecting a refund of the difference? If the price went up, would you volunteer to pay the difference?

You have 30 days to return the one you bought already.

Call customer service.

I would recommend that you contact Customer Service to make your inquiry as other customers on the forum won't be able to definitively answer your question for you.

Historically, when Kindles (and only products from the Kindle line) have gone on sale, if you are still within your 30 day return period, Amazon has often credited the difference in price when contacted.

Amazon hasn't had their post-purchase price-guarantee since 2008 on anything except for TVs. That said.... you could contact CS and ask (nicely). They have been known to refund differences on Kindles that go on sale for people who bought one not to long before the sale.

I hadn't asked at the time I posted my question, had only found an old and now-dead phone number. Thanks for the 'hint', oh how many times have I answered technical questions with 'what did the book say when you looked it up?'. I sent a cordial email to kindle-cs-support@amazon.com and received an almost immediate refund of $21.40 including tax. So, the price drop guarantee still exists, but isn't made obvious.

Thank you, I have edited my question to mention the positive response from Customer Service.

That's great, but I have a weird question (I think I am missing something)...

I thought the Paperwhite was $119 (at least it was when I got mine), not $139?

And today it is $99.

Where did you get it for $139?

CatChat says:
I thought so too, the the $119 is the one with special offers. without it is the $139

Oh, my bad. I always forget to even notice the price without Special Offers. LOL!

ETA: Thanks!

Got it here at Amazon. As CatChat says, the $20 makes the "Special Offers" go away - bought it for someone who's not very tech-savvy and wanted to reduce the confusion factor as much as possible.

Yeah, silly me, it just never dawns on me to check the other price. LOL! =)

The reason that, in this case, mine was the obvious answer, is that this is a Customer Discussion forum, and no one here would be able to do anything for you with regard to the finances on your account.

Now, had you asked, "How do I change the name of my Kindle?" or "How do I use Collections?", well, then, we could have helped with that. But refunds? Nope. Customer Service all the way.
