There is now the option to delete the Kindle Fire pre-installed apps. Turn on wi-fi.
1. Went to apps
2. Tap app
3. Option to delete is now available.

Last week I sent feedback to Amazon about the Facebook app on the KF. I sent the feedback via the KF. Trying sending some feedback maybe Amazon will allow you to have the option to delete. I can now delete all the pre-installed apps.

It is possible that it becomes available when you update your Fire to 6.2.

I sent a service request to Amazon to either give me a method to remove Facebook or setup an RMA. They offered to setup an RMA, basically told me they won;t allow users to remove Facebook. The only way they will get the message that doing this is not OK is if people send back their Fire's and tell em why - hit em in the wallet.

It won't delete with your instructions and I'm running on 6.2 update. The app pre-installed is terrible. I can't sort stories or updates. It's so frustrating! I try to access the website and it defaults to this horrific app. What am I doing wrong? Please help!

There is a lot of crap on Facebook. Why else would it be so popular. Enough said.

Nothing wrong with not wanting an app on a device. What does it matter to you if the app can be removed?

SeaLevel274 says:
If you were addressing me, my point has only been that it isn't an app. It's just a link to the Facebook website.

That would make it even more annoying. And not I was responding to someone else. If you look to the right of the post you will see where it says Your post, in reply to...click on that and you will see who is being replied to.

From the perspective of a k-12 school it is detrimental to not have the ability to remove apps kids shouldn't mess with. Of course content filtering is in place, but it is still a distraction and shows that amazon isn't making it easy for schools to use kindle fires.
