I downloaded the free games, but I have never played them. It seems like it would be akward and more trouble than it's worth. I play word games and sudoku on my iPhone, but not everyone has smartphones. I can see how some people may enjoy playing the games on
Kindle when taking a break from reading.

I have downloaded all the free ones, but i really only played twice so far... Reading is much more appealing to me

Likewise -- got a few free ones. Have played once or twice but the experience wasn't "all that".

I read on my Kindle. (but I"ll play on my phone.)

I bought a Android tablet to play games on. A lot better experience. I use the Kindle to read only.

my thoughts exactly.....the kindle is for reading..........

I know as humans we don't want to carry too many gadgets but the kindle is for reading. Even people with Ipads have a kindle.........
I like games too, but won't bother with it on the kindle.
Maybe they should spend the development time on improving the reading experience....
My hotpink lighted Kindle rocks!!!!

JJ: did you get the pan image tablet?

Posted on Dec 14, 2010 4:17:38 AM PST
No, but I wouldn't if I could. I live in Europe and games are "currently not available" for me.

I've had my K2us since Feb. '08 and I downloaded all the free games. I see nothing wrong with playing games on my Kindle when I'm tired of reading. It makes for such a nice change of pace! At times, my phones' screen is too small for repetitious play.

I play Blackjack and Texas Hold 'Em periodically. Both are nice when you only have a few minutes to kill and don't want to get seriously involved in something or while watching TV. I also downloaded Every Word and Shuffled Row, but don't play them. I am really considering downloading Slingo, but the pricetag is stopping me. As soon as I see it go on sale, if it does, it's mine. And I will play it often. That game is ADDICTIVE.

I have some, but I don't play them often.

It doesn't bother me that they are available, or that others choose to.

I just wrote a short post on this, kindleworm. :)

It's on my Amazon Author Central page, and will probably be there for a couple of days.

This one is short enough that I can summarize it here.

If you sort the 779,379 items in the Kindle store right now (under eBooks) by bestselling, seven of the top ten are games.

That says something. :)

I read a lot on my Kindle...but I do play Solitaire some as well. For example, I did yesterday while I was waiting in a busy line. A Solitaire game takes me about five minutes (I was unreasonably happy when I broke five minutes the first time...I'm not that great at the game, I think), but it's easier for me to keep my eye on what is going on around me with Solitaire than when reading. I think I'm good at multitasking, but I'd rather interrupt a card game than Mark Twain. ;)

I play Shuffled Row alot. As Bufo says while waiting in line I'd rather interrupt a game than a good read.

I got some but I don't ever play them. Though, I don't think it's a big deal. I mean, a phone used to be just for making phone calls but now you can play games on them. There really isn't anything wrong with it.

If the games are offered up for free I do get them. Never know down the line if I will play them or not but since they were free no harm done. I guess you could call me a freeahaolic :).

When I have too much on my mind to concentrate on reading, I play games. They aren't the best but I like them.

The people posting here sound exactly like the people who claim they never watch TV. (Maybe they're the same people).

I DO play games on the Kindle because they're fun. They're also perfect for when you can't really concentrate on "War and Peace"--the doctor's office, waiting in line, waiting for my wife at the department store, etc.

Though I spend a huge amount of time reading on the Kindle, I also like to pause and play a quick game of Slingo (new and lots of fun) or Shuffled Row. I usually keep a game of Sudoku or Every Word ongoing because these are not timed, and I can come back to the current game at any time and ponder it for a few minutes and then move on.

Yes, the Kindle is for reading primarily. But for a guy like me who has no intention of getting an iPad, a smart phone, etc., they're a neat little diversion to keep me happily occupied for 10 or 15 minutes. And, given the constraints of the medium, I think the games I've gotten so far are excellent.

I read a ton on my Kindle, but I also get very entertained and addicted to Scrabble,Every Word and Shuffled Row...especially Scrabble Quick Play...really good for the brain...but am getting an IPad and would rather play Scrabble in color and bigger.
