I'd like to buy a kindle eReader for my mother, she does not have the internet, a computer or smart phone.... she's very old school. I'd like to get her a kindle and load it up with books for Mother's Day but I'm curious how she will know what the books are about. Is there an easy way of get the book overview or description? I don't have any concerns she can read the book once she starts since it's so simple, just curious about the choosing of a book to read! Thanks so much for any advice!

R. Wilde says:
I think you can only get the book description while connected to the internet.

I can't say for sure if 4G versions will allow it. I assume they will, but I have no first-hand experience with any of those models. If you were going to get a wifi-only model, is there a neighbor close by with a strong enough wifi signal who wouldn't mind her using the connection?

No real way to do hat you want.
However - you can load all the books up then create collections and move books to the collections.
Figure out good names for the collections and it should help your Mom find hat she wants to read.

DO NOT get a Kindle Fire for her - it doesn't work that way and begs to be on wifi.

That's what I was afraid of. I have around 600 books, so I can download enough to keep her reading for a long time. What I might do is print out the description of the book, it would be a pain to do, but I am not sure how else to do it.

Borrowing a neighbors Wi-Fi seems easy, but she's almost 80, and it's just more complicated than she can handle I am afraid.

James - definitely agree about not getting a Fire for her. I think the simplicity of the original Kindle could work well for her.

Thanks though!!

Get her the 3G version of the Kindle, and it will work by connecting to the Kindle store, to get the description.
