Editing collections on kindle is a terrible job.

Does anyone know any free applications that can edit collections on a PC?

I tried 'Kindle collection manager' but it does not work for Kindle touch.

Dragi Raos says:
All third-party collection editing apps work by editing a text file with collection information, [kindle]:/system/collections.json. That file does not exist on kindle Touch (and neither is it there in K4PC installations; that app uses SQLlite database instead).

Currently the only workaround I know of is to edit collections on some other model of Kindle (possibly using a third-party app, like Calibre plug-in or KindleCollectionsEditor), or in K4PC or K4Mac app, and then import them into Touch.

Oh that's why .............. Thank you so much for your reply! It really helps me. However I dont have any other kindle devices ... and I dont think K4PC works because it does not sync 'personal documents'.

... I guess I shall wait for someone to develop a new app. Thanks!

Kindle for PC and Kindle for Mac will sync personal documents with Kindle Touch. It also syncs collections.

1. Update your Kindle application, if you're not on the current version.
2. If you used Calibre to convert your personal docs to mobi format, make sure you didn't check the option to enable sharing via Facebook (since that disables syncing reading progress). If you did, re-convert them without that option.
3. Make sure that the files on your Kindle and on your computer are identical, including file names.

Kindle Touch doesn't handle collections very well. I kept locking mine up, getting the "Unable to Start Application" error, and having to reboot a lot when I tried to arrange large numbers of books into collections. Using Kindle for Mac to arrange everything and then importing the collections to my Kindle Touch is the only way I was able to get my books organized. Unfortunately, K4PC/K4Mac doesn't allow multiple selections, so you have to drag each item into a collection manually (or right click each item and add it to a collection from the context menu).
