kindle daily deals

Why aren't the advertised Kindle Daily deals actually providing the discount? No matter how I try to get the deal, it always get charged at full price. For example, today I went to the daily Deal tab and clicked on the icon for "Douglas E Richards' book Wired for $0.99. However when I clicked buy or see buying options, the price is $5.39! This mirrors previous times with other daily deal offers when I have expected that I would be charged the discount price, but was charged the full price.

Geoff, do you live outside the U.S.?

Yes I am in Australia, but several months ago I was using the daily deal and was getting the discounted price at that time without any problem.

Quite often they aren't deals for Aussies as well, Geoff.

*However*, when Amazon opened up the Australian site did you change over to that? If so, they have different daily deals, but which are often price matched in the US site. If you're still registered to the US site, you can often find a price match by checking out the daily deals on the AU site, then searching the US site for the same book.

Thanks CBP, I think you and Arual have identified the problem. Sadly, having now transferred to the Australian site I find that there currently no deals available.

Yes there are - just not as many. There are usually between 1-3 per day. You can find them here:

Pretty much all of the Aussie regulars on this forum have chosen to stay with the US site at this stage, because a) there isn't a huge range of books on the AU site, b) there's no discussion forum, c) there are no gift cards, and d) for the most part the prices aren't any better.

It's possible to switch back to the US site if you want to. You might also find it informative (in amongst the idle chatter LOL) to keep an eye on the Aussie/Kiwi thread. Someone usually posts the US link for the AU daily deal.
