What model of Kindle do you have? The method will vary depending on the model.

dont

passwords will eff you upp eventually
and they wont stop bad guys from getting in

It stops them long enough to get it deregistered. For them to get past it they would need to reset to factory defaults which would wipe the Kindle anyway. I always use passwords when I am out and about.

what do you do when you forget it
or when it just doesnt work at all for some reason

Simple... you use a password you won't forget and then you don't forget it. If remembering passwords is hard for you just use your darn birth-date mixed with some other word you can't forget for crying out loud. That has to be the worst excuse I have ever heard for telling someone to not using a password.

Installed new router, can connect on computer OK but kindle fire is locked. have kindle fire 1st generation 6.3.2 now asks for password to unlock. With former router, no password, kindle always opened. I never added password to kindle so can not connect. HELP
