About a month ago my Kindle Paperwhite started neglecting to delete from my device books that I had borrowed from my library via the Overdrive system and then returned via the Amazon website, as well as books I borrowed from the Prime lending library and then returned. As a perk (I guess) I still have access to the entire book, even though I've returned it. To reduce clutter on my home screen, I've been going in individually and removing them from my device, but it used to happen automatically so I'm wondering if it's a bug or a policy change.

Anyone else having this issue?

I borrow books from my local library as well, on a regular basis. A couple months ago I had one that didn't disappear either. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I haven't been charged and the library shows I returned it so I'll take it! It is odd though...

Remember, you're dealing with electronic files. There's nothing physically transferred to you when you borrow the book, so when the expiration date arrives, the coding in the file on the library's server changes the status of that license from on-loan to available. Nothing is overdue, so there are no fines.

I understand all of that, and I'm glad my books aren't being marked overdue. What puzzles me is that, until a month ago, when I returned a book the book disappeared off my Kindle; now it doesn't. I was curious as to whether that was common to other people or just myself.
