Kindle goes blank

Kindle is charged, comes on; when I slide to open, it goes blank!! HELP

One of the first things to try is to reboot it. With it not plugged in, hold the power button over for 30 seconds (actually count them), ignoring any messages on the screen. Once you're finished, let go of the power button (if you have a Fire, press the power button one more time to get it to turn on again - if you have an eink Kindle, you don't need to do that). Let the device repopulate completely before touching anything.

If that doesn't work - contact Customer Service (this isn't it) by clicking the blue help link at the top of the page, then the Contact Us button. Use either live chat or have them call you - email is a form letter.
