I was reading a book I purchased from Amazon. com and it just wasn't there the next time I went to read. Do I have to purchase it again?

Miss Carol says:
No it will be in your cloud. If it isn't on your device, download it again from the cloud.

Raedaun says:
How do I do that Miss Carol?

Miss Carol says:
Which device do you have? Usually there's a cloud view and a device view - switch to cloud view and then look for the book there. If you say which device you have, someone will be able to give you specific directions.

There are several versions of eink kindles and the directions depend on device.

Without knowing the device, you can go to http://amazon.com/myk .... locate the book (using the search feature) and click the button with thee dots (...) and choose deliver, choose the device you wish the book to be delivered and click okay.

then ensure that your device is connected to wifi/3g (again depending on device) ..... sync or ask the device to check for new items ..... give it a minute or two and it should be there.

If Raedaun has a Basic, what would the procedure be? Is it basically the same as the KK - turn on the wireless and click on cloud / archives?

By chance do you have the book in a collection? I've had this happen a couple of times--I open a book from a collection and start reading, and the next time I go to read, it is not the first book (after the collections) like it should be. You have to actually remove the book from the collection if you want it to show up this way. One thing I learned too is to hit the "back" key (not to turn the pages back but actually the back key). Since it takes you back through the last functions performed, it should take you to the book.

Or sort by Recent.

If you sort by recent and the book is in a collection, then the collection will show up first, not the book.

Are you sure? I'm thinking that if the book is what was opened last, that's what's on top, because it's the Most Recent item.

Otherwise there really *isn't* a sort by Recent, if the Collections still comp up first.

I always sort by collection, the collection containing the most recently read book will be at the top. I keep the books I am reading in a collection named "Currently Reading". Makes it easy to find them.

I don't have my basic Kindle with me so I can't check that one, but on my Touch when I sort by recent, the "Currently Reading" collection which contains my most recently opened book is at the top followed by the most recent book itself.
