A. Dietz says:
You need to contact Amazon to talk about your options. Click on the Help link at the top of the page, then click on the Contact Us button. Use the Chat or Call Me option, not e-mail.

Did Amazon help? Before I get a new one (for no reason other than bad soldering) I was just wondering what they did for you. I have watched YouTube videos on how to repair, but I don't think I have it in me.

If you don't want to attempt repairing it yourself, you can find repair services with a Google search. The going rate for charging port repair is about $50. Whether or not it's worth repairing a 1st gen KF is a question you have to decide for yourself.

Contact customer support. Your Kindle is still under warranty.

Sydney says:
If I get a new Kindle do I have to buy all my books again, or can I send them to my new one somehow?

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 18, 2014 4:36:26 PM PST
Sydney: The books belong to the account, not to a device. When / If you get a new one, you do the following:

Register the new one to the same account as the old one. Then the books will be in the cloud / archive list on the new one. You can download them from there to the new one.

My kindle can't find any Wi-Fi networks, even though I know that there is one on and operational in the room, as other devices are able to use it and work. is there something i can do to fix this?

Nicky's Mom says:
Customer Service was not helpful at all! Our Kindle wouldn't charge and their solution was that we had to buy a new Kindle. Huh???

King Al says:
Unless you can find a place that will repair your Kindle (assuming that it is out of warranty), that answer is correct, since Amazon does not repair Kindles.

Has this port problem been fixed with the Kindle Fire HDX?

Yes.

No

King Al says:
There has not been a flood of complaints regarding the HDX charging port, so I don't think your answer is correct.

~nospin says:
You are mistaken.
There is no port problem with the Fire HDX.
