I'm a student currently studying Japanese, and I've been toying around with the idea of purchasing a few volumes of manga from to help me understand the language better and expand my vocabulary. My father recently got a newer Kindle and gave me his Kindle Fire, and a few of these manga have Kindle editions. I have an account with the Japanese Amazon that uses the same user information as my English one, so I was wondering...If I purchased the Kindle version of these manga from the Japanese site, would they be accessible on my Kindle or do I have to set it up differently? Or is it even possible for manga purchased from the Japanese site to be read on an English Kindle?

Only Japanese residents with a Japanese credit card can purchase Kindle/digital content from the JP site. Digital media is governed by different copyrights and licensing restrictions that physical media.

Well that's depressing. Guess I'll have to find a different way to practice. Oh, well. Thank you.

If you visit Japan, though, and while you're over there change your address in "manage your kindle/country settings" to wherever you're visiting/staying, you may find more Japanese titles available to you while you're over there. Whether the ones you're looking at would be included in that or not, I don't know, but it's worth having a look.

It would be worth looking, just in case. I *was* considering applying for the JET program, which would have me move there. If I get accepted, the worst-case scenario is that I buy some books from a bookstore.

What about books from, the German Amazon? German's another language I practice, so I could use some books in German if it's possible.
