Ernie says:
Clear cache and history from the browser and you should have the original offering of pages available.

That doesn't seem to have worked for me. Any other suggestions?

Sue says:
When you are on a webpage tap on the screen to get the bottom bar to come up. Tap on the square with lines in it. The History option will be there. Tap on Clear History. That should clear out any web pages.

Click the little x on each tab to close it. When no pages are open, mine says 'new tab' and shows thumbnails of recently viewed pages, or I can tap the search box and an alphabetical list shows. If I rest my finger on one of the thumbnails, a popup offers options and the bottom one is 'delete'

It seems to remember what tabs you had open. Close the ones you don't want, and keep the ones you do. Next time you open it, your tabs will be your home pages.

Did anybody ever get a useful answer to this? I don't want to clear history or click a bunch of X's. I want to open my browser and get Google every time.

I too am trying to change the homepage on my original Kindle Fire, and none of the answers àdressesthe issue. For those who have contributed answers, the problem is not simply that the last, or even recently viewed web page, shows up when the browser is opened. Rather, somehow a webpage I viewed months ago, and haven't gone to since, has become set as my home page. I clear all caches, histories, etc every time I close any window and that makes no difference. The solution beng sought out is specifically where does one SET a homepage?

I do not think that the Silk Brownser has an option to set a home page. I am at work and do not have my Fire with me but I will check when I get home and see what I can find.

I think the Silk browser is very similar to the Safari browser on the iPad or iPhone.

On these devices, when you open the browser "program" the program automatically opens the last "page" that you had open. It doesn't re-start the browser as it would on a laptop or desktop.

For example, on my iPhone, when I open the Safari browser, it shows me whatever I had open last when I was using the browser. It doesn't open a new screen with a home page. Additionally, if I open additional browser "pages", those are always active for me to pick unless I SPECIFICALLY choose the little "X" and shut that particular "window".

Most tablets work the same way with their browsers. It always keeps that last "tab" active.

Mine is default to facebook.com, which is what it was when I received it. I don't use facebook, deleted the bookmark to it, changed pages numerous times. It always goes back to facebook. It is nothing like any other browser that I'm aware of. Many people have stated about the last tab, this is NOT the case. If you clear the history, cache, cookies, etc... it always defaults back to a home page. What most of us on this thread want is the ability to change that home page.

I checked and the Silk Browser does not have a way to set one particular page as the home page.

Select the full screen option ( the 4 arrows on the side ). Then when you exit out of the browser, that page will show on your carousel. Somehow it is also recorded as your home page and will open up when you go to the browser. No matter if you reset cache etc.

Mine opens to Bing and I would never make a conscious decision to use Bing. I figured Amazon locked it down so they could make 'click' money. There has to be a way to set it to Google.

Ed avid Bing disliker only because hate is such a strong word.

I'll say it. Hate Bing.

Clear all tabs delete history and force restart by holding power button for several seconds only way to get rid of unwanted tabs popping up on browser start

awesome: This thread can't help you, because there is no way to change the Home page on any current Kindle.

Why, it's a way better search engine and there's Bing rewards?

Did your 'better search engine' find this nearly two year old thread for you?

You do realize that you're replying to a post that is about a year old right?
