i was just watching t.v. with my family, its Saturday at 5:30 P.M. when a kindle commercial came on, it's the one where a man and a woman are sitting at a getaway resort and it seems as though the man is hitting on the woman while discussing how great the kindle is, he tells her they should celebrate with a drink and the woman agrees but tells him her husband is bringing the drink... to me and my family's surprise the man answers," my husband is bring one too". At that point my 6 year old daughter asked me why the man had a husband. This commercial is so distasteful its beyond belief. Children use the kindle and i don't believe its kindles place to air that while young children could be watching. Every family is different, so if your being sensitive about certain groups that might be interested in your product please take in to account that it should be a child's family that discusses certain aspects of life with them, not kindle. After all there is a time and place for everything within reason.. you just lost a lot of customers, including me from your commercial..... how rude..

This is a unmoderated forum so you've only told other customers. If you want Amazon to hear you use one of these emails -
kindle-feedback@amazon.com
kindle-fire-feedback@amazon.com

Turn off the TV. Donate the TV and your computer and kindles to a shelter for teenagers. They will get some use out of them.

bye-bye.

Turn off the TV and live in the dark ages. So you are upset because others sin differently than you do. Get that Bible out and read about judging others. Personally I don't believe in the gay lifestyle but it does not offend me and I believe in a persons choice which is what we all have.

Wow. Is this the same guy who posted this same offense the other day? Maybe his wife is the one who posted she was embarrassed by the picture of a beautiful woman wearing an evening gown (black tie dinner dress). I am more ashamed of the adults that walked thru the door that my child was holding open without even a simple "thank you".

Just Peachy says:
So did you have a problem with the woman being in a scanty bikini?

Maybe you could say to your daughter "when 2 people love each other they get married". I don't think you have to explain to her what 2 men do in the privacy of their bedroom.

Correction as to what the commercial says at the end. After the woman says her husband is bringing her a drink, the guy says, "So's mine." He does not say the word husband. I think the commercial is great!

Half naked women being hit on and and their bodies gawked at is okay.

People who love each other are not okay.

Didn't you get the memo?

On the other hand, Amazon probably GAINED a lot of customers for airing this commercial. The only ruder person here is you.

So you were offended that the woman had a husband?

Anne Shirley says:
Your POST is distasteful beyond belief, not to mention embarrassingly ignorant. Oh yes, and RUDE.

Put your hands over the kiddie's eyes, have your wife stick her fingers in the kid's ears, and the two of you can hum "I can't heeeeear youuuuuuuuuuu!" for an hour or so. That should take care of any problem - which is entirely yours, BTW.

*yawn* This has already been discussed to death. Sell your Kindles. Enjoy your Nooks. Good luck out there.

"it should be a child's family that discusses certain aspects of life with them"

I heartily agree! What a terrible pity you refused the fantastic opportunity to discuss it, and chose to keep your daughter so ignorant about 10% of the population.

Just tell your child he is making a joke. Problem solved.

Cassie Anne says:
Why did the man have a husband? Because he fell in love with another man and they got married. Hopefully, they will live happily ever after.

I'm thinkin' Jeff would be thrilled to lose the "customers" (really?) who find this commercial distasteful.

I thought that too, Mooncat. Some customers are good to offload.

Yeah, these "customers" are about as desirable as KKK members.

I didn't see the commercial (I don't watch much TV.. too busy reading my kindle) so I just checked it out online... I don't understand what all the fuss is about, I don't find anything wrong with normalizing a gay relationship,in fact I think its about time. I certainly don't think my children shouldn't see this commercial either, it wasn't explicit in anyway. Its not like Amazon aired a commercial at 6 o'clock in the evening where 2 gay guys are discussing a kindle before they ripped each others clothes off... sheesh

Cassie Anne says:
Exactly. All you see is one guy waving at another guy. And the scantily-clad woman.

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 23, 2013 6:51:30 PM PST
She is hawt, though.

Cassie Anne says:
She is. And she seems to know it, which is why she assumes he's hitting on her.

The Paperwhite is awesome too.
