I'm using the Kindle app on a Mac (OS 10.9). I'm a slow reader, so it would be LIFE-CHANGING to have a teleprompter-style speed reading utility such as Spreeder (http://www.spreeder.com/) or TextCelerator (https://textcelerator.com/) built right into the Kindle device and the Kindle app. Is this in the works? If not, would somebody please pass the idea on to the developers and product managers?

Send the suggestion yourself: kindle-feedback@amazon.com. No one else is probably interested in this, though. Development efforts would typically go into items that are in high demand.

Thanks, I didn't know about that email address. I just sent a note.

I don't know about the apps, but on a Fire or an older e-ink model, if you turn on text-to-speech, then set the volume to zero, would that work for you?

That would definitely be an improvement. Does either device let the user control how many words are highlighted at a time.

No words are highlighted at all.

The video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCC8saQrCqI show highlighting for Kindle Fire.

Words can be highlighted. Text-to-speech does not highlight words as it reads.

 nospin says:
Words are highlighted in Immersion Reading on the Fires. Immersion reading requires that you buy the Kindle book and the companion Audible book.
