+- 2 weeks from current kindle release dates.
My guess is mid September.

The point Jazzy is making (as you could have found for yourself if you'd searched the forums here) is that no-one knows until Amazon does the official release. They don't announce the release date ahead of time.

There's plenty of speculation about when it *might* be, but that's all it is - guesswork.

Rumors reported in computer magazines, tech journals, business reports, etc-Wall Street Cheat Sheet being an example-says that usually reliable unidentified sources claim that the new Kindles will be announced, and released, in September, or October, 2013. That makes sense, so that they can sell to the Christmas Gift market. Still, no one knows whether those sources are: Amazon employees who know, Amazon employees who don't know and are only guessing, employees of third party types who supply Amazon with screens, batteries, etc, and so would have some idea based upon how many orders they got when, or just bogus BS-ers who don't exist, and are invented by the rumor publishers to lend credence to their BS. Your guess is as good as anyone else's. IF new Kindle models are to come out this year, September, or October, would be the most logical, and likely, time. Maybe Bezos is pulling a Steve Jobs...withholding official news of upcoming items, but unofficially releasing leaks about them to drum up interest, and so create a bigger drive to buy in potential customers. Until Amazon officially says something, all we can do is wait.

With the current and ongoing problems people are experiencing with the touch screen on the new Nexus 7 I have decided not to go that route and buy the new Kindle fire HD 2(8.9 ?). So I hope I can get my hands on one soon. My biggest fear is that as I live in the UK I will have to wait ages after the release in the US before I can buy one. In any event I hope its soon.

I can't wait for it to arrive. I am in need of a tablet (traveling ~ long one) and since Apple is slow with their ipad I am counting on the Kindle to release before the end of this month.

I am *really* hoping Amazon gets the pages up for at least pre-orders soon. I am eyeing the new 8.9" high-resolution tablet. Waiting requires patience. Which I do not have.

MiniBob says:
The internet tech reports, blogs, etc seem to be coming together on the same rumors - faster processor, sharper screen, front and back camera for the 8.9, not for the HD 7. Unfortunately, if true, Google Play will still not be available (other than the usual work arounds. The shape of the new Kindles will be different and the new units will be lighter in weight. So much for the latest rumors. Release will be end of Sept or early Oct.
