While on the web via my kindle fire I have downloaded Pdf files. I can view them by touching the link in notifications, but once I leave the doc after the initial view I cannot find it again. It is not stored under docs on my fire or amazon Acct. Does anyone know where these docs are downloading to or how I can check Pdf file download settings?

Bufo Calvin says:
Amy, look for them in

Web - Menu (horizontal lines in a box) - Downloads

I find that the easiest for things I've downloaded from the web.

You might also consider a file explorer app...I use the free ES File Explorer app. I'm not connected with that app except as a user, by the way. It lets you search for files, and work with them more like you would on a Windows computer.

How can I get them to show up in the same place as Pdf files I have emailed to my Kindle address? This is really clunky... I want to see them listed with my docs and on the carousel.

Kevin Derby says:
Why don't you email them to your kindle address.

C. Pearson,

On your Fire, go to the Apps store and pick up the free app ES File Explorer

You can use that app to move files from the 'downloads' folder on your Fire to the 'documents' folder. You'll have to shutdown/restart for them to show up, though (unless one of the updates changed this).

Amy, I don't mean to go off of your topic but based on what has been posted I just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue with the ES File Explorer. After I got my Fire I went and got this app based on what I had read in the discussions. After loading it kept bringing up this ad to see if I wanted to use some service online. I could not get the app off of my carousel either. So I deleted the app from my device and then went in and deleted it from my apps in my account. I still had the stupid advertisement wanting me to okay to use this service (can't remember what it was now as it's been awhile). Has anyone else run into anything like this?

I had to call Kindle customer service to get it off of there and the agent had to reset and deregister my kindle in order to get it off of the Fire. I see a lot of instances where people say this app is great but I am afraid to try any of the file explorer type apps just because of that one bad experience. I trust Bufo in what he talks about and so I was kind of curious if he or anyone had ever had any issues with it or if something just got into the Fire with the app that no one has has run across? Sorry and don't mean to go off the topic but since it was brought up I would really like an app like this but I am leery of it.

I never had that problem with it (knock on wood).

Thanks for the heads up, Richard Kier! I knew there had to be a way to see what I've put on the device without downloading ES File Explorer!

I have a Kindle Fire 2nd generation. Does this apply also? When you say: Web - Menu (horizontal lines in a box) - Downloads, this doesn't seem to work for me. Maybe I am doing something wrong. When I touch/hold the web button (on the top of my carasel, it just takes me to the web. I can access my documents there, but how do I get out of them?? Thanks for your help.

I came here to find out how to move my downloaded PDF files to the Docs screen. Thanks for the help. I also wanted to let you know I use File Expert by Xi'an Geek downloaded (FREE) from the Amazon store ( NO ADS! and works great!

After you press web and it takes you to the Internet, go to the bottom of your device and look for the horizontal lines. It is between the search Icon and the back arrow.Hrh.

I downloaded two PDFs from my email onto my Kindle Fire, and I was able to find them by going to apps>office suite>internal storage. I have not, however, been able to figure out how to move them to the "Docs" tab. :/

Carbonbased says:
Sending attachments to my Kindle's address has quit working. Either my ISP or Amazon is 'quarantining' them. In the past, I successfully sent the same file to my DX, where it worked like a book.

When I download something from a website, the Fire asks me if I want to complete with Adobe, Kindle or QuickOffice. If I chose Adobe, it opens and scrolls vertically. I can find the file later under that app. If I choose Kindle, it opens and I can turn pages, but I can't add it to Favorites and once I close it, it's not on my carousel.

Does anyone think it will help if I authorize saving Docs in my Cloud? I am hesitant to do this with things I would rather keep private.
