(¸.*´ ¸.·´*'~* ⊱✿⊰ The Obstacle In Our Path *'~*·*¨) ¸.·*¨) ¸.·*¨*✿⊰

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock.

Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded.

After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway.

The peasant learned what many of us never understand. Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

My pleasure Charlie. It's a simple start, but it's the Freebies that are posted, the posters that stop by and the conversation that make a thread special.

How often, if ever, do you indulge yourself with a manicure and pedicure? What is your favorite color of nail polish?

Hi everyone,
back for a quick peek at the fora -- incredibly busy but still picking up freebies along the way.

To answer LOB's question: I usually do my manicures/pedicures myself, I find it very relaxing! At least once a week, and I always paint my nails. In the summer, when I'm back in Greece, I go to the salon for a professional "do" but otherwise I'm quite good at it myself :) My favourite colour at the moment is bright orange -- to with the tan!

ETA... I'm off to get some sleep now BubbaK. Hopefully I'll see you tomorrow.

Hi book fan! How nice to have you join us this morning. So are you in Greece now? I love a manicure because they always give you a nice little hand massage that feels so nice. Orange huh? Very bold! I bet it looks great with a deep tan. :)

Come back soon! I was just about to post a Freebie. The books are late in coming out this morning, but they have released a few to start.

Progressive Dinner Deadly (A Myrtle Clover Mystery) - Cozy Mystery

Retired octogenarian schoolteacher Myrtle Clover is fit to be tied when her book club votes to change to a supper club. Who wants chips and dip when they can have Dickens and Twain?

The first supper club is a progressive dinner...where Myrtle loses interest during the hors d'oeuvres. But when a body is discovered during the main course, the evening quickly gets interesting. Myrtle pits her sleuthing skills against her police chief son's to find the killer....if the killer doesn't find her first.

Fire and Ice (Liam Campbell #1) - Mystery/Police Procedurals

Alaska State Trooper Liam Campbell, demoted and reassigned to the remote bush town of Newenham, literally steps off the plane into a murder scene. Dealing with death is never simple, but when the woman leaning over the body proves to be Liam's old flame, it's evident that his new job is about to become much more complicated. Of course, small town tensions tend to simmer just beneath the surface, and murder, once done, has a tendency to happen again.

Hi LOB! No, I'm back in Brussels now, just came back. I can almost see my tan evaporating slowly!
I like the cozy mystery you posted -- I love cozies in general, and have not found many lately. OK, "many" is a relative term as I already have more books than I can read, but still...

If someone is offended by the sheer number of links please let me know. It is either that I posted so many free ones or that so many are short story/novellas.

4N... So good to see you! You have been missed. :-). Hope you enjoyed your summer.

Wendy... I try to get a mani/pedi a few times a year. Otherwise I do my own. Favorite color PINK. After having 3 boys, my wonderful GD's fav colors are pink & purple. Not doing purple nails! Lol!

I will be gone this weekend. Need to visit DH's sister, who is not doing well. She wants to see her brothers and sisters. :-(
Hope it is cooler up north.

Don't worry about the grumpies, 4Nbahu, they have been a bit viscious lately. We love your recommendations!

4Nbahu says:
Before I came to India I had never had a manicure or pedicure. Not even for my marriage. What little was done to my nails I did myself. However, after arriving in Delhi I realized that I had to start. Women here ALWAYS have good nails. Sandals are worn more than shoes so toes must be beautiful. Many functions I attend must be barefoot and often sitting on the floor, where I can't even hide the bottom of my feet.

I have always gone barefoot whenever possible which means I have those lovely hard callouses on the bottom of my feet. I have weak nails that split easily. So now I try to have a pedicure at least once a month and my nails done at least every two weeks. In the winter this increases with the number of functions increases.

While at the beauty parlor I will also often have an Indian Head Massage and have my hair styled.

I say this because labor is cheap here and the cost of having these things done in a parlor are relatively cheaper.

Manicure about $7 Pedicure $8 40 minute Head Massage/Shampoo/Blow Dry $15

My favorite daily color is a Sally Hansen that is a pale plum. It gives a bit of color without shouting.
