Any word? It seems they release a new 6" kindle every six months.

Not every six's been a year since the first Paperwhite.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a new DX. The one currently being sold is running 2.xx firmware, the firmware that was used on the K2 models, and they haven't been sold since late 2009 or early 2010.

The DX was a niche item. It just didn't have a broad enough appeal to the masses. I've got one, and haven't used it since I got my Paperwhite.

I had been holding out for a new DX that at least had WiFi, but it doesn't look like Amazon is going to continue this line. I bought the DX when they reposted them back in June. I love my DX even though it's 2nd generation. The best thing to do is to send your request to I would love to see a new DX that has 3G and WiFi with a Paperwhite screen.

I understand that the DX is a niche item, but it's simply not possible to read most pdf papers on the six inch screen of the paper white (even in landscape mode). Additionally, people with poor vision could use the larger screen to view larger fonts more easily. So while, it is a niche market, it is a market that isn't going anywhere, and I feel that Amazon should recruit those users into their ecosystem. Afterall, people who want to read PDFs are in a demographic that has money for other media purchases.

pdfs work pretty good on the 8.9" kindle Fire (actually they work better than on the e-ink kindles)

Those users also will most likely have a tablet device or computer, rather then having to carry two devices. If you need access to PDF files for your job, you probably also need email, and document creation ability. With so many devices that can do many things, having a device that can only do one aspect makes little sense.

I loved my DXG for reading at first. In practice, it is too big, too heavy, and too limited. I had trouble lighting the entire screen when ready in dim light situations. Page turn buttons on only one side was restricting. It is too big to toss in a purse. The navigation using the toggle/joystick is clumsy.

Once I got a Paperwhite, I never used the DX again.
