How do I remove or delete books from my library on kindle fire?

From the carousel or the Books page - Touch and hold the book cover, a small menu will pop up - select "removed from device

I have tried to delete books also and some are deleted and some stay on the kindle fire. I know it is the library books I downloaded to see how the kindle fire worked with the library books. Now I hit delete and the books are still there. Do I have to wait until the books expire before I can remove them? I even went to manage my book on laptop and removed them permanently and the books are still there. I notice a round red circle appear with exclamation mark when I keep trying to remove them.

Is there any way to mark the books you've already read? Huge PITA to not know if you've read, or decided not to read, a title.

I have also tried to delete a book from Kindle Fire..held my finger on the book, a sub menu came up with the option to delete the book from the device, I tapped it but I thought it did not delete the book.

There are two options, Cloud and Device..
To remove a book..Tap Device, hold your finger on the book, a menu will come up.. tap the one to delete from the device.
When you tap Cloud, the book will still be there if you got it from Amazon, in case you want to download it again.
But it will be removed from your books list when you tap Device at the top again.

Dear Kim,

I have the exclamation point on a book. It is not in my library (deleted it from MYK). It's not in the cloud anywhere. Have turned off and then resynced and still not going away.

I do no think you can remove a book from the Fire while you are in the Carousel---I think you have to go into the "Library" tab then tap and hold you finger to remove from the device.

I have 12books that I deleted from myk last month. They are not listed in cloud or on device but my book collections app picks them up during scan. I removed from there and reset kindle fire hd but they appeared again when the app scanned. Can be read from app so they are living somewhere in my fire hd. I finally just made a deleted file in the app. Maybe someday I'll be grateful they are still there.

They were Freebies, and now they're not free? You're probably better off without them.

A. Smith says:
Yes..they changed and I cannot completely remove them. They have an exclamation point. I tried clearing the cache..the only thing that worked was downloading it a second time and deleting it all over again. I used the prime membership free trial. But now I have to wait a whole month._. If anyone has a faster way to get rid of them id love to know.

Wait, wait, wait. You didn't say anything about Prime, before! THAT is a whole other kettle of fish!

Please backtrack like 11 steps, and begin at the beginning this time.

Thats because I thought of the prime idea today o.o cus I knew redownloading the book and removing it will work. But like I said again. The two books changed to costing money which really ticks me off cus they didnt before. I had already deleted them before but they came back. And will not go away.

They did NOT "change" if they were Prime books. I'm not sure what the disconnect here, is; there's some aspect of the process that you're not understanding and/or not explaining well.

There are FREE books. Those *might* changed to "paid" books at any time. But Prime books ARE for-money books that you BORROW for free with a full-paid Prime membership.

If you deleted (or as Amazon would see it, RETURNED) a Prime-borrowed book, then NO, you cannot *borrow* another Prime book until Aug 1.

Prime does not give you books for free. You can only borrow one book per month.

Did you borrow these book or "buy" them for $0.00?

Why are you trying to download them again?

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 22, 2013 10:29:10 AM PDT
P.S. There could not have been Prime BookS (plural), because you only get one at a time, no more often than one per calendar month.

She may have seen a book that was in the KOLL and offered for free ONE day.

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 22, 2013 10:37:16 AM PDT
Totally possible, yes. That's what we need to establish, in order to help.

The part that I'm still not getting is the "deleted but they keep coming back". I don't have my Fire with me, so can't try to see what she means.

I've never had that problem. Maybe she deleted them from the Fire and then is looking at the Cloud?

Yeaaah, I'm thinking something like that. She might not have synced so it shows one place but not the other. And you CAN'T redownload what the device thinks you still have on there, of course.

But the free/now not free thing is confusing. If she snagged them, she snagged them, and they should be in the MYK. UNLESS! She (ooops!) deleted them from the MYK, in which case they're not hers, anymore.

A. Smith says:
They WERE NOT prime books. They were free and CHANGED to paid books. I did the prime for the FIRST TIME today to get rid of one of the books.

And I never saw and koll thing. I did the process of deleting and syncing(so they WERE gone, then came back a couple days later.) but they came back to my cloud ONCE. I got rid of two of them and have one left and not sure of a quick way to get rid of them. Thats all I want.

You want to get rid of them from where? From your Kindle or you want to permanently delete them from your cloud?
