Is any one having difficulty maintaining the battery charge on their Fire? It seems that I have to fully charge it at least every 3 days; I use it for about 30 minutes at night and I turn it off completely to save on the battery.

Leaving the wi fi on will really drain the battery. Although you may have a defective battery, I would call CS.

The battery on my Fire does not last 8 hours. I usually read and/or play Angry Birds and get only about 4 hours or less.

That sounds like a defective battery. I would contact CS for a replacement.

Playing games uses more batteries. 3 days for a color light screen is a long time. You swill have to charge it often to watch movies and play games (4 - 6 hours)

The thing with games and movies is that I am most likely to play them for significant amounts of time on long coast-to-coast or international flights when you don't have access to a power supply. At home or work it's less of an issue because you can always plug it into the charger when you are not using it. The Fire uses the same plug as my smart phone, so I can probably even charge it in my car using my portable cell phone charger (albeit a slower charge than when using the regular charger). After about a month of use I tell people who ask that I love my Fire, but the battery life is a significant flaw, along with its weight compared to my wife's Touch. Overall, though, I still prefer the Fire to the Touch.

You can get back up battery supplies if you find yourself in that situation frequently.

New Trent Arcadia Pack IMP70D 7000mAh USB External Battery Pack and Charger for iPad2, iPad, iPhone 4S 4, 3Gs 3G (AT&T and Verizon), iPod Touch (1G 2G 3G 4G 5G), Motorola Droid Phones, HTC Android Phones, Blackberry, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung EPIC, Nint...

Thanks for the link, Nospin. Too bad one would need to spend an extra $50 and add an extra device weighing an extra 6 oz to overcome the limitations of inadequate batteries. Eventually battery technology will overcome these limitations and we'll look back at four to six hours of battery life as a strange and antiquated notion.
