To begin with, what type of Kindle do you have?

And you need to return and remove both those email addresses. Amazon warns you not to post personal information here because this is a public forum and you posted them for everyone in the world to see. And Amazon won't use them.

You don't get responses to forum posts via email, you get them in the forum. If you want email click the "Track" button and the forum sends them to your registered address.

I'm not sure. It is one of the first Kindles made. Thanks Silva.

Artist says:
Why would you be disgusted -- batteries do wear out after a few years. We can't tell you where to get a battery because you haven't told us which Kindle. There's no way for us to guess. Go to, click on Devices, and tell us which Kindle is listed on your account.

Do you mean "disappointed"? That might be understandable. Sure--our toys wear out, and we're bummed. But "disgusted"? That's kind of like, "Dang, woman. Lighten up," territory.

Jay says:
There is this annoying universal evil called "Entropy" which is ALWAYS INcreasing, and making EVERYthing everywhere, every when, wear out, and break down. It effects you...which is why you age. It effects electrical components...even batteries. Nothing lasts forever. NOW I'll bet you are REALLY "disgusted", eh? Get over it, and move on.

PS56k says:
ok... we can't look over your shoulder...
to see which Kindle you might have - since "first Kindles made" could mean anything...

Go to the Amazon MYK webpage,
which will display a banner of all your registered physical Kindles or Kindle reading app.

Which specific device is the one that will not work ?

CBRetriever says:
Kindle: Amazon's Original Wireless Reading Device (1st generation) (2007)
Kindle Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G, 6" Display, White - 2nd Generation (2009)
Kindle DX, Free 3G, 9.7" E Ink Display, 3G Works Globally (2009)
Kindle Keyboard, Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display (2010)

this linked page will help you determine which kindle you have:

only the first one is designed to have a replacable battery and has a reset button inside the back cover and is a big white wedge-shaped kindle with a scroll wheel - for all the other kindles, try holding the power button in or over for a full 30 seconds and seeing if it comes back up
