We are having a hell of a time trying to add a simple bookmark. According to Kindle, "You can place a bookmark anywhere in your Kindle book by tapping the upper right corner to place your bookmark. You'll see a blue bookmark icon.

To remove your bookmark, tap it again."

See never see a bookmark here. However, if I go into the menu to my my marks/locations, it's there. So it looks like the bookmark gets saved, but isn't visible on the page.

We just got a Kindle Fire today as a Christmas gift and were noticing the same problem regarding the inability to bookmark magazines (had no books yet other than the preloaded dictionary). We downloaded a book this evening and were able to successfully bookmark a page in the book. You must tap initially in the center (approx.) of the page so that the borders appear at the top and bottom of the page. Then look for a very faint bookmark icon in the upper right hand corner. See the following video .

It is the little plus sign on the top right of the page. It turns blue when you touch it. That shows that you have a bookmark there. When you want to go to your bookmark, you go to menu at the bottom of the page and touch bookmark. If you have more than one bookmark you touch the correct one.

It's disappointing that you have to go to the blogs to get answers. The Kindle fire help page was useless in providing answers to questions such as how to highlight, how to find your bookmarks, and how to remove them. But it appears that readers have figured out how to get around some of these problems and have answered those questions I had. Thanks to all of you who take the time to do this. I agree that the lack of page numbers is a problem, but I can understand that due to differing font sizes, page numbers would vary. As a teacher, I believe the suggestion to use locations to cite references should work and be acceptable.

My son and I are reading the same book. Is it possible to have two bookmarks at the same time?

Yes, you can have as many bookmarks as you like. To find a list of them, click the Bookmark icon on the lower menu bar. You can also delete them at will by simply tapping them.

I am on my first book with my new Kindle Fire (bought Nov 12). When I bookmark a page and reboot after shut down, instead of opening to the page I bookmarked, it opens on a page from the front of the book. What is wrong?

On the Fire HD, with the book open on a page, lightly tap the middle, so that the menu comes up. To book mark a page, tap the greyed out bookmark icon, top right. To see your bookmarks, tap the icon for Notes. You'll see your highlights first. Then you are given popular highlights - other people who've read your book will have their highlights listed in case they are of use to you. Using your finger scroll to the end of that list and there, hey presto, are your bookmarks. Tap on one of them to go to that page. Simple pimple really, but took me a while to suss it out. How's about both an "Add Bookmark" and an "My Bookmarks" button on the menu bar, Amazon? Perhaps do away with the X-Ray thing, what is it, and it seems to be function not available on the books I read!

On my Kindle Paperwhite, I can choose to view only my bookmarks and not my highlights or popular highlights. Is there a way to do this on the Kindle Fire HD 7"?

Am reading a book thru the Kindle app on my Ipad. I have deleted all the bookmarks yet when I place a new mark it almost always opens to the wrong place when I go back to the book. The bookmark tab gives a page number and the mark opens to that page - but it is NOT the page I stopped at. Really frustrating and functionally unusable.

Yes, me to! I have bookmarked a search engine I want to use but there is nothing on the home page that takes me to 'bookmarks'. - This is not for bookmarks in a book -- maybe it needs a new icon name.

Hi to Everyone,
I just purchased a Kindle Paperwhite, and, reading a book, I haven't been able to use any more than 7 bookmarks. Indeed I can introduce more than that, but then I cannot display more bookmarks than the first seven ones... A side window displays the first seven bookmarks, with a side bar that I suppose is meant to be moved down so as to display more, but that side bar won't move, whether I try with a finger or something else. Thanks in advance for your advises.

@Bernard - Place your finger on that pop-up window (not the side bar, but the window itself), and slide it upwards to scroll down.
