Kindle Fire freezing

Hi. I am curious if anyone else has had this issue with using an app with the Fire and having it keep freezing so that you have to clear the data in the settings? I just have never had this issue and have had my Fire for about 9 months without ever having a problem.

Customer service was very helpful but it seems like one of those things that I am wondering if I should just give up the apps or if it is something to be done on a periodic basis (clearing the data in the browser)? I love my Fire and so I thought there might be someone else who has dealt with this and might have some sort of idea in this instance. Thanks for any information or help.

Like I said I already spoke to customer service but it has happened 2 times just today and I haven't ever had this happen. Again thanks.

It's a couple of different ones and I haven't had it happen before so I don't know if it's the apps or the device. Earlier today they reset it and told me just to continue using it and if it did happen again to call back and tell the kindle agent that it had been reset with a kindle agent. So the next time I called back they had me clear the data in the browser. I just wondered if anyone has had this type of incident and if so how often does this data need to be cleared.

My main point is why it hasn't happened before but that's not something I can pin down either. Sorry, just asking.

It is actually BBC News and Feedly (I like the diversity of those two). Those two never used to freeze and now they have each done it today and at one point my Fire rebooted on it's own while I was on with customer service. He said that was odd since it was in a "freeze'.

Okay this is what the agent had me clear. Maybe it was the cache. I went into Settings, Applications, had it show all applications, and then went to Feedly and hit clear data and okay, and did the same for BBC News. Is that the cache? Sorry because I just am not as familiar with the way this works like I am when I use my laptop. If that's not the cache then can you let me know where to go clear it? Thanks.

My daughter was playing a game on my KFire when the screen & device are, both, freezing completely. You can't turn it off, nor can you get back to any menu or settings feature. Nothing works.

The last time it did this, it was also during this same app, the battery was almost dead. I simply let te battery run itself out and recharged it to get it working again. This time, however, the device is fully charged. So, I'm guessing I will let it run down again and recharge it again. The I'll remove this app completely from my Fire altogether. We've never had it totally freeze up while using any other app, to my knowledge.

Is there a hard-reset anywhere on the Kindle Fire that I can use to reset it without letting the battery run itself out??

I answered my own question. Hold the power button down FOR A FULL 20 SECONDS, and the device will turn off when frozen.

I have not talked to customer service yet, but my new kindle is freezing, running very slow, and often closing some of my games.

Mine (Kindle Fire 1st Gen) and my daughters (Kindle Fire HD), both, had the same issues with shutting down in the middle of apps and then not holding a charge and then blacking out with no ability to reboot. After calling Amazon Cust Svc, both had to be replaced. I suggest you call them too.

I would first start with clearing the cache. Then reboot by holding down the power button for 20 sec. The Amazon Rep will ask you if you have tried all of these steps prior to calling them, so you might as well try. Additionally, even though none of these processes worked for our Kindles, the return process was very quick and seamless.
