I love anything by the Late, great, Richard Layman, but sadly I have read everything he has written. Can anyone recommend any new authors with a similar feel to them as Richard Laymon. I have read all the usual horror authors. I am looking for new blood that i can really sink my teeth into :-)

I am presently reading WHY SHOULD I DIE, Just because you killed me It is similar to Richard Laymon in the way that the charactors aren't always what they seem, giving it a Laymon feel.

I've read that, but thanks for the recommendation. I'm reading Testament at present, but still looking for Richard Laymon type writers

Bentley Little? I saw that you "have read all the usual horror authors" but I'll mention him - just in case. ;-)

I have seen loads of Stephen King movies, but never read any of his books, are they any good?

There is a reason Stephen King is called 'The master of modern horror'...he's a good writer. He's had a few bad books, but I don't know which ones offhand. Books I know he's known for are It, Pet Cemetary, Carrie, The Shining, Salem's Lot, Cujo, Christine, the dark tower series. (Of course most of those were made into movies, but the book version is usually better.)

Try walking up and down the isle of a bookstore in the horror section for inspiration for authors new to you.

Did you try Koontz or Brian Lumley?

Try Rosemary's Baby, The Omen or The Exorcist.

Sign up to goodreads, input books you've read and it'll suggest other authors/books to try.
