Visit the "Meet Our Authors" Forum - you might find free books

Recently, an author posted here on this forum that they were giving away free copies of their book. There were a lot of responses - many people wanted the book, but also many people pointed out that Amazon now prohibits self-promotion on this forum. The thread was then removed by Amazon.

If authors (or publishers) want to promote their books (including free giveaways), they can only do so on the Meet the Authors forum. But many readers don't know about that forum, which is why I thought I'd post this message.

If you're looking to find great new authors, check out the forum. You may even find occasional freebie offers.

Here is a link to that forum: our authors/

Agreed. the Meet Our Authors forum doesn't get enough love from Amazon IMO.

but it shows up in the most active forums - just scroll to the bottom of this page and anyone can find it

It does. It's just easy to forget about it tucked away down there in the corner. After seeing the hoopla from the thread that was up here this morning, there is clearly interest in readers getting freebies from authors. I think people just neglect to visit it sometimes.

Once, I had forgotten that there was a link to it in the bottom left corner, and had a hard time finding it - I had to google it. There just isn't an easy way to find it if you don't know exactly where to look. If someone has or is considering buying a kindle, and clicks on the "discussion forum" link on a kindle page, they come to this main forum. There's nothing obvious saying, "Hey, just so you know, authors are promoting their books over on this other forum."

and so I bump this...

Did you read the first post, where it mentioned that Amazon forbids self promotion on this forum?
I guess not.

The absolute gall of violating the no-self-promotion rule on *this* thread.

Definitely on my never-even-read-must-less-buy list. I don't spend money on books from such ridiculous people.
