I bought a used Kindle Fire that was "rooted" and it worked great. Now it will not run the Kindle reading ap. Everything else still works fine, just can't read books on it. HELP

Contact the guy who sold you the rooted Kindle Fire and get your money back. :-)

If the app worked when you got the phone and subsequently stopped working, it must be damaged or corrupted. I would delete the app and download and install a new copy. This has worked for me in the past.
Good luck.

Once it's rooted, all bets are off, and you're on your own. Buena suerte.

I hate that! I had no idea what a rooted was when I bought it.. so i guess i can just use it like a tablet and read my books on my smart phone or computer.

Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling it?

Would resetting to factory defaults in-root it?

Which generation KF do you have? Is it still running the Kindle OS (simple root)? or has another OS been installed (such as CyanogenMod/Jelly Bean). You have to run a version of the Kindle App compatible with your current OS. My 2nd Gen KF is currently running CyanogenMod 10.1.3/JB 4.2.2, and the Kindle App for Android runs perfectly. I would suggest uninstalling the current Kindle app, doing a hard reset, then reinstalling the Kindle App. Without knowing more about which Fire you have or the OS, it's hard to diagnose your problem further.

Good luck.

It is Cyanogen.
How do I do a hard reset? The restore factory settings does not do anything at all.

Hold the power button down for a full 30 seconds (ignore the pop up to shut down, etc.), release it, then push it again to restart. Then reinstall the Kindle App. Either the Kindle App for Android from Google Play (if it has the Play Store installed) or from the Amazon App store should work.

Again, good luck.
