Does sleep mode stop audio as well as video on the Kindle. When I used sleep mode my battery is draining pretty rapidly and cannot figure why.

I've always left router running. Is that what you mean? If so, guess only alternative is to shut down Kindle each time I use it.

All apps that are running in the background should continue in a low-power state. That's the point of "sleep" versus "off." Mike means you should turn wireless off on the Kindle device by turning on airplane mode.

You're welcome. If you still experience a problem, it could be a hardware failure, in which case you'll want to contact Kindle customer service to troubleshoot it.
