Just downloaded the ES file explorer apps rom Amazon, opened it to two apps, one called Office Suite and the other, Personla Video. How can I delete both apps? By tapping and holding the apps all I get is the option "Add to Favorites" and not the option to delete.

Are you trying to somehow use "ES File Explorer" to delete other apps?

If an app is built into the software you cannot delete it. Your only choice on a long press is to add it to favorites. My first gen Fire does not appear to have either the "Office Suit" or the "Personla Video" you refer too. The closest it comes is "Quickoffice" which I cannot delete because it is built in.

The "ES File Explorer" apps wasn't built in, but downloaded after I purchased the Kindle Fire HD Tab.
I was attempting to remove this app.

Ok, now I understand what you were trying to do.

As I said, I have an original Fire and I have ES File Explorer installed on it. It does respond appropriately to a long press giving me the option to either "Add to favorites" or "Remove from device"

Have you tried turning your Fire completely off (powering it down) and then back on and then trying to remove the app with the long press? If that doesn't work then I would try a reset (IIRC usually holding the power button for 30 seconds will do it.)

If those suggestions don't work then I would contact Amazon by going to the Manage My Kindle page and using the Kindle Help Link in the upper right area.
