are you actually being charged, or just getting a receipt of purchase? free or not it still shows as a purchase, just a $0.00 purchase.

Books change price faster that the list gets updated, so "free" books may not be free

Don't go by the list of books. Make sure the actual book says $0.00. Also make sure you are not going by the free to read for Prime members. Also it depends on what country you are in.

This.

If the orange oval doesn't say "$0.00", DON'T CLICK.

and if for some reason when you first click on a book that is listed for free and the price changes before you click to purchase then a pop-up will tell you so and ask if you still want to purchase that item.
