If you have the DVD, how is the Fire involved?

No, the Fire is an end-user device...there is no data output port to hook it up to your TV.

To get digital content delivered wirelessly to your TV, you need an Internet-enabled TV or something like Roku or Playstation or Wii.

I think you're asking if you can SEND a DVD movie FROM the tv/dvd player TO the Fire in your hand? Is that what you're asking?

Edit to clarify: It sounds like you want to put a dvd in the regular old player, but SEE that movie on your Fire. Is that right?

A kindle fire is not a DVD player.

I assume you are talking about the tv commercials that shows someone watching a video on their Fire and then finishing it on their television. If you are streaming an Amazon video on your Fire and want to finish it on your televsion you can do that, but not through the Fire. Your television will need to have some way of accessing the internet (for example, Roku 2 XS 1080p Streaming Player).

No. If you have a movie in a format that is usable on both the Fire and your laptop, just copy it to both places.

Check out Skifta on your fire and see if it fits what you need.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of HAVING the Fire?

If you bought (or rented, or are streaming) a movie from Amazon, you should be able to also download or stream it to your computer.
