kindle app icon wont delete

I've got several app icons that will not delete. I've clicked delete several times and it does nothing. I've gone to the cloud on the kindle to delete and they still remain. I've gone to applications under settings but the problem apps are not on the list. I also have one stuck on qued. I've cleared data and catch from app store. Restarted the kindle.

scroll down to the bottom of the page, click on help, then contact us, getting them to call you is the fastest

pinkfurshop - Did you turn on wi-fi and Sync?

To delete an app permanently:

1st Gen Fire -

*Press on the icon and select Remove from Device.
*Then click on http://amazon.com/yourapps
*Click on the Actions button next to the app and delete it.
*Then turn on your wi-fi and Sync.

**WARNING** This will delete it permanently and you will have to buy it again if you want it.

It may take a day or so for the app to disappear, but it will eventually go away.

*****************************************************

2nd Gen Fire, Fire HD, Fire HD2 or Fire HDX - (If you didn't follow these steps and just deleted it from your account first, they will hang around in your Cloud for awhile before they disappear.)

*Press on the icon and select Remove from Device.
*On the Cloud tab, long press on the app and select Delete from Cloud.
*A confirmation box will appear. Click on Delete from Cloud.
*It will "think" for a minute and then will remove it from the Cloud. However, this still Archives it on your account.
*To delete it from your account, click on http://amazon.com/yourapps
*Click on the Actions button next to the app and delete it.

**WARNING** This will delete it permanently and you will have to buy it again if you want it.

My family has 4 kindle fire hdx's. I deleted about 4 apps, I thought properly, from the cloud but when I turned on our devices the icons are still there. I've deleted several with no issues. Please help!!!!!!

The pre-installed apps aren't deletable.

I wanted to delete some game apps and others yesterday as they run all the time and 'bing' when they want me to come play.
I followed Settings and found MANY applications listed there...not mine, they came with the KF HDX 32G. I carefully checkmarked those I wanted to delete, somehow missed a pageful and with one click, I deleted 2/3 of the apps I had put on my KF.
At first, for a moment, I was aghast...then...realizing I hadn't accessed even one of those apps in months...I felt free.
I could lay my KF HDX tablet on my nightstand last night without waking every time an app decided it wanted an update, or mail dropped in.

Today I will judiciously remove all but those I have used in the last few weeks. Lovely feeling..taking back control of my tablet!!!!

my wife's Kindle Fire HDX is having this problem with just one app - Call Of Atlantis - removed via Amazon account from cloud, but it continues to show on the device with orange bar beneath. If you touch, it goes to the store to install, which goes too fast - shows 0% downloaded then immediately jumps to open - and it will never open. Repeated cycle many times, forced shutdown holding power button, deleted App Store cache, etc, etc, etc. No luck. Suspect corrupted configuration file deep inside Kindle.

This is the exact issue Im having on my sons kindle. I have accessed the apps on my account on my pc and deleted, deleted from cloud, trid to delte from the Kindle directly and nothing. Tried to delete from cloud on the knidle and it just freezes and does nothing.

Hi Mike, I contacted Kindle support and they transferred me to the software team after walking me through all the normal routines. However, I'm happy to report there was a solution, and it was quite simple, if a little scary. You will lose some local information like any email and Wi-Fi setup information, but it works. First, deregister the Kindle from the Amazon account. Then, use settings to reset to factory defaults. Finally, restart and go through the setup of the network and re-register the Kindle. Wait a bit before downloading your apps - especially any games. We think my wife's issue started after recent system updates, and one or more games were loaded in memory. Make sure the "offending app" is deleted from the cloud. I advise installing your apps one at a time and testing your Kindle by shutting down and restarting between each install. Time consuming, but for us the end result was not only a clean setup but the Kindle now has all the extended battery life expected with the latest system updates. Good luck!

Hi Garlon, thanks for your post. I did what you suggested and everything seems to be working as it should for now. I couldn't get rid of app icons at all on my daughters new Kindle Fire HD7 (2014). I had a feeling a reset to factory defaults was in order but did not know to deregister it before doing so. Hopefully it wasn't an app she had installed that caused this issue, since she is downloading quite a few again. we'll see how it goes....
